My husband is in SC for business. I work at Waffle House in NC. We dined in and had decent service. The place was dirty though. We decided to get food to go today and the experience was less than enjoyable. We ordered a cheesesteak hashbrown bowl with onion and mushroom and a Texas cheesesteak melt with onion. My husband went and ordered and picked up. He called me and told me the cook had left while he was pulling in. The server Lenee was in the store on the phone, the other server was outside smoking. The cook arrived back 10 minutes later. After he returned and we ate (my hashbrowns were undercooked), he told me the price and I realized that it was too high. I calculated it myself with the tax and to go charge and he was charged 3 dollars too much. I went back with him this time. At first the server Lenee did not want to give us the yellow ticket that has the prices broken down. After insisting I noticed she charged us for a meal instead of just our sandwich. She had also charged us for onions in the hashbrown bowl (she later said it was for the sanswich). I pointed out that cheesesteaks have onions included in the price. She got an attitude about how I obviously don't work at Waffle House because charging for onions is new. She demanded my store number. She demanded my husbands phone number for the refund which is not required. I told her she made a mistake not a big deal just fix it. She wanted to continue to argue and cuss. The cook told her to stop arguing with customers. I asked for a manager and she said she was changing the drawer so I will be calling and speaking with a manager in the morning. As a fellow waffle house employee, her behavior was...
Read moreEasily the worst Waffle House experiences I've encountered, and I've eaten in over two dozen from Western North Carolina to the Florida panhandle.
Chose a seat at the highbar since I was alone. Server didn't even notice me sit down. The other server on duty got her attention, and there was a sigh and an eye roll. Very professional.
Started with a cup of coffee, had planned on eating too. Coffee was old and way too strong. Had to ask for a spoon to stir in my cream. Cook walked out of back room while scratching his crotch. Yeah, I'll stay hungry, thanks. He proceeds to cook another customer's order without washing his hands.
Finished my coffee pretty quickly, as I had been out in the cold for quite a while. Set the cup down with a very clear clink, the kind of sound that most servers come running to.
During the ten minutes I waited for a refill, I listened to both servers argue in front of me about who was going to finish the last few loads of dishes. Nearing shift change, when another server came in, I watched the first lady, the one that had gotten my server's attention when I sat down, slap the behind of the one that just came in. Then, again, with no hand washing, she picked up her table's food and served it. It was all I could do to not say anything. My coffee still empty, my server was sitting at a table counting her tips.
I've been in the food industry for almost 20 years, and this is unacceptable. Never in my life have I left a restaurant without tipping. After almost 20 minutes in the place, I left exact change on top of my bill and walked out...
Read moreWe stopped by this establishment for a late dinner/Early breakfast after leaving an evening celebration. We were seated promptly, but it took a while for a server to come and ask for our orders. Once we placed our orders, we had to wait another 30-40 minutes for our food. Once we got our food our orders we not thr best! My husband had a grilled sandwich, and the bread was burned. He sent it back only to be given another burned bread sandwich. I ordered the Texas bacon cheese steak sandwich and asked to add mushrooms and jalapeños . Only to receive a cheese steak sandwich with no bacon or jalapeños. My friend ordered pork chops with cheese and mushrooms. When she got her there was no cheese...the server said I got you...and proceeded to walk back into the kitchen and come out with two slices on cheese in his hand and attempt to hand it to my friend. We had to tell him that she wanted the cheese melted on the pork chops. He took the plate away and never came back! We watched as he looked as if he was taking money out of the register...put his backpack on his back and put his ticket book down and walked out. Another came over about 10 minutes later to apologize and try to get our orders together. Interesting night to...
