Dairy Queen Grill & Chill — Restaurant in Florida

We decided to give this place a shot right before the typical dinner rush.. At that time, we were literally the only customers there & as we waited for our orders to be taken care of, we noticed (& liked) how the entire crew seemed to get along & work well together, cracking a few jokes amongst each other, as if they actually didn’t hate having to be there lol! I can’t remember his name, but the guy who took our orders was very kind & professional toward us & popped out to make a quick cleanliness check around the inside of the store before going back to check on the progress of our order. He was keeping busy & not just standing around like so many do at other places. I bring this up, because for a fast food restaurant, I truly have to say, it was one of the cleanest I’ve been in around Pensacola, considering all things. The food was great. Everything ACTUALLY tasted fresh & just as it was supposed to be.. As soon as we went to walk out with our food, to sit at the patio area, they started getting slammed with dinner time customers. Knowing they dreaded it as much as any crew does during these times, they didn’t even whine or complain. One guy even said, “Wellll, so much for that break.” he was already trying to go on a few minutes ago.. They knew they needed to get these customers all taken care of first & THEN break. That’s pretty rare nowadays. In most workplaces, people will just leave the rest of the crew struggling hard while they go take their break or get lost. I saw some actual team work here & I appreciated that. So yeah, I wrote an essay here (my bad) — but, clean, fast, friendly, teamwork goes on here, from what I see & I definitely recommend popping in here for a quick bite sometime!…or even an ice cream cake for a special event. The staff is trashy and unprofessional. I also watched them carelessly make other people food in that were going through the drive thru. They play in the back and move almost disrespectfully slow like they are entitled to the job no matter how they act or how fard they work. They also are sassy, smug, and play petty games with doordashers. It really just seemed like they were trying to be cute and show off in front of each other. Like they were on their last straw, but there was no one in there to keep them busy so I don't see what they were so frustrated about. Its took them around 30 minutes to get me 2 blizzards with absolutely no explanation for why. And when the order was completed they held it in the back and told me to go repark my car before they will give it to me. Like just handing it to me and saying "u cant park there is that hard. And that one black girl came out of nowhere acting all trashy and sassy like the old chick. Pay them more so they dont have time for this crap or get a less childish staff. Cause they obviously dont need the job as much as they need to 1 up random people that are helping the place they work complete orders as a side gig. Making my job longer and hard just makes DQ look bad when the customer gets melted blizzards and cold food. But that nonchalantly and condescending energy had no place in the service industry. Either this is encouraged by management or handled my management....

I feel Everybody has been sleeping on DQ ! I remember when the one DQ we had here in P'cola closed down over 20 years ago. I know in the last 5 years or so, they have been making somewhat of a comeback, and now I can see why! The drive thru experience was probably the best one I have had in a few years. The girl greeted us and when I ask her to give us a moment...she actually did just that ! She didn't come back on 30 sec. Later like Every other place does saying "are you ready to order yet?" Which instantly gives you the feeling of being rushed, and when your looking at a menu for the first time and ordering for 2 adults and 1 kid, we don't already know what we want, and maybe that has something to do with it, Most other fast food joints know or assume you eaten their 1000 times so you should know what you want already, but here without it being said we were treated as if it was our first time. The communication was crystal clear the the burgers & the fry's were VERY hot & fresh. ( The bag was hot) the server spun the blizzards upside down when she handed them to me. They were delicious!
