We would usually go to Donut King about once a month; their donuts are good day of, but the next day they start to become stale. Nothing special about them really, for instance their Oreo donut is just a regular chocolate frosted donut with cookie crumbles on top, the Fruity Pebbles donut is just a regular strawberry frosted donut with cereal on top, etc. This is the case with ALL their donuts. They are definitely different than Dunkin or Krispy Kreme with the fact that you get different toppings on a regular donut and that’s about it. However, after my horrible experience with them just one week ago, I would not recommend them to ANYONE. We ordered their donuts for our wedding on October 12th, as I previously mentioned we figured it was a good choice as they are different than your commercial donut store with the different toppings. We emailed them back and forth with the date, time and the type of donuts we wanted. We even called them to pay, the ordering process was effortless and they took our money fast. It should be noted that during my phone call with their office they stated our donuts would be dropped off early in the morning after their delivery to the Winter Park location as the Mineolla location supposedly bakes all the donuts and delivers, so we would be the stop after their morning delivery in Winter Park. I made sure to be at the hall myself (on my wedding day mind you) to receive the donuts. The donuts never arrived. We called them around 10:00am to see where the donuts were as 3 hours passed, no phone call and we were now two hours away from the wedding, Donut King apologized and said the donuts would be there at 3:00pm. We said this was okay as the donut bar we had was not opening until 4:00pm. 4:30pm came around and still no donuts, again we called and they apologized and said they can deliver them at 7:00pm; please keep in mind that delivery was not free either, this was paid for with our order prior to the wedding. Upset on my wedding day, we told them the wedding would be over at that time, again they apologized and hung up without any resolution. I attempted to contact them the day after the wedding so they can process the refund for the monies paid to them for the donuts and delivery we never received, no answer. I sent them two follow up e-mails, which I have attached to this review, and still no answer. I called them three more times after that, no answer and their voicemail was full. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! We had to actually call our bank and explain to them what happened so that they can issue a temporary credit while they investigate the charge. A part of me feels as if this is what Donut King wanted as the bank will issue a refund and may not do a chargeback on their side; what scammers! Our wedding was on October 12th, and not one answer. I will never give Donut King my business ever again and would not recommend anyone order from them for a special event. If I could rate them zero...
Read moreI had a small gathering and before I hosted, I thought to myself, do I want to give my guests food from a chain restaurant of previously-frozen and uninspiring donuts, or do I want to try to treat my guests with something less boring? The temptation to hit up a certain establishment which boasts that America purportedly “runs on it” was great; after all, it’s right down the street. I decided to think outside the box. It was either Donut King or some other vegan place I’ve had once before and desperately WANT to like but can’t bring myself to because it just isn’t that good. Man am I glad that box brought me to Donut King.
5 stars on sheer creativity and selection alone. The amount of flavors and varieties and innovation almost made me feel anxiety. There was so much to choose from! And they all looked mouth-watering. I ordered an assortment — dealer’s choice, they called it — and while some were more ... interesting than others, they all tasted fresh and authentic.
The staff too was really friendly. The two cashiers could probably tell it was my first time but they were super patient and helpful, all with genuine smiles on their faces. I’m not typically in love with someone younger than me calling me “hon,” mostly because it’s usually either self-serving or belittling, but it felt real and honestly, a little Southern coming from the cashier at DK. So I’m good with it.
One final salvo: try the Oreo turnover donut, or whatever it’s called, I don’t even know. What I do know is that it’s changed my life. I’ve found my calling. No longer can it be said that my life has no meaning. Thanks, Donut King.
Anyway, don’t listen to me if you don’t want. Just step into Donut King, allow the aroma of freshly baked mounds of sugary high-fat dough fill your nostrils, accept the gripoinambiance of a true donut shoppe, and let your senses be guided into taste euphoria and you’ll see that in correct. So thanks for reading but please stop and head into Donut...
Read moreI’m giving this a 1 star rating because I have to in order to write something, otherwise it’d be a zero. This review pertains to extremely poor and quite frankly completely unacceptable customer service for any establishment. On Sunday night I arrived with 4 friends and we were very excited to try these donuts based on prior reviews and photos. To say that the excitement was immediately quelled due to the treatment we were met with is an understatement. It began with no greeting when we first walked in and a palpable energy that the Sales Associate did not want to serve us aka do his job. My friend asked for a glazed donut and he was completely ignored. When we asked about different donuts, fillings, etc we were met with rude, curt, and abrupt responses - as if were being a nuisance. Despite all this we were STILL going to place an order. When the Sales Associate put the donut box together he threw it on the glass counter and when another friend asked for the chocolate covered donut twist, he pulled the rack so hard it came out of its place. At that point, I said loudly and clearly so that he understood “oh no, do we really want to eat these donuts? Let’s go, this is horrible customer service” and we walked out. To the owner of this establishment, please do a better job at hiring or training your Sales Associates. This does not bode well for your business. And in case there is a conversation to be had with this employee and since we didn’t get a name, it was a Caucasian male working the Sunday, December 12, 2021 night shift. Y’all really...
