This is for my experience with the eagle grille (upstairs) on 3/18 at 5:30: This was my family and I’s first time eating at a restaurant in Boca, and we were excited to eat at Eagle grille after seeing great reviews. Unfortunately, this was not the case for us.
Hospitality: Upon arriving, we were not greeted by the hostess (an older woman) she seemed as if she was occupied writing something. After standing there for what seemed like an eternity, I finally said “hi, I have a reservation” and gave her my name. She then responds in a condescending tone “I need to get this done first”, barely even looks up at me, and keeps on doing whatever she’s doing. No greeting, no nothing. Let me be clear, they had JUST opened, all the tables were empty. We waited another 10 minutes before we were sat. And I was beginning to think we were inconveniencing HER because we interrupted whatever she was doing….big yikes. When I had made the reservation, I requested for our party to sit by the window, she sat us in a booth- farthest away from the window. I then proceeded to tell her about my request and she immediately shuts me down saying those tables are already reserved in advance. OK- not a big deal I guess but interestingly enough after our dinner and got up to leave, there were still SEVERAL TABLES by the window that were empty the entire time🙃Needless to say, we were pretty aggravated by the customer service from the beginning.
Food: I was hoping our food experience would outweigh our experience with the incredibly rude hostess. But unfortunately, I was wrong yet again. Our server was very friendly (I can’t remember his name), and he was attentive. We were hoping for great, quality food to live up to their high prices, but that took a turn for the worst. I had ordered the ribs, which first came out burnt, like burnt so bad they tried to tell me it was the barbecue sauce that made it look that way. No, you tried to cover up the charred ribs with bbq sauce, so I sent it back. Second, my mother in law’s spaghetti was a nightmare. Not only was there barely any sauce on the plate itself but there was ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR. The ground beef to sauce ratio was about 80/20, yes. You heard that right. And the garlic bread that came with it? Try garlic cracker that’s half the size of the palm of your hand. This hurts me as a big foodie, because how do you mess up spaghetti????? My husbands seafood platter? Same thing. Zero flavor. I’m assuming they skip out on seasoning altogether here. No manager stopped by, no apology when we sent it back.
We travel a lot and enjoy trying out new restaurants, but this place wasn’t worth us spending $200 here. I’ve had better, quality meals in NYC for the same price if not, less. The only pros were that the ambiance was nice, decor and all. The sweet potato fries are the only thing I recommend, because you can’t really mess that up. The views were also beautiful, but that’s it. Advice to the manager: please Retrain your staff and hire a new chef that uses other seasonings besides a sprinkle of salt and pepper I tried my hardest not to be a “Karen” about it, as I’ve worked in the service industry when I was younger and I understand what it could be like. However, what we had experienced turned us off so much we won’t be returning and do not recommend it to anyone. If you’re ok with spending $25+ a plate for unseasoned food and rude customer service on top of it, this is the...
Read moreWe were searching for a new place to dine on island and came across the Eagle Grille, and thank God we did! I called to see how busy it was and the most gracious host Laura (Lauren?) answered and shared there was a private party downstairs but there's always room at Eagle Grille...felt like home. Upon arrival we met Laura with the biggest smile and she had us wait just a moment to clear a window side table for us...picture perfect. The wait staff was quick to get us water while we waited (for what would be the most incredible server ever...Andrea!) Soon Andrea was there offering the evenings specials and her favorite drink options for which we both tried something different. Drinks were better than we could have hoped and it was off to more suggestions for dinner options. Again, taking Andrea's suggestions we dined on the most amazing blacked scallops and the house ribs...both a toast to the chef. The view was amazing and we enjoyed every bite...yup clean plates 😊! Topped off with a warm chocolate cake we split (shhh don't tell but it was worth the calories)! Oh btw the prices were reasonable for the quality and a value for the view. All in all a 10 for an evening that started out with the usual...hey honey where do you want to go? Our new answer will be Eagle Grille!! And don't forget to ask for Andrea, her...
Read moreOur party of 6 had dinner Thursday evening at the upstairs Eagle Grille. Guys, if you appreciate fine dining, you have to try this place for many reasons.
First off, the serving staff was excellent. We had 2 that waited on us, Hailey and Stephanie, and both did such a great job. Nice, knowledgable, and a good sense of humor. Hailey even successfully made our drinks since they didn't have any bar staff on duty at the time. Stephanie sold us on some apps and dessert which we otherwise wouldn't have gotten, and we were so glad they did. A+ job.
The food was AMAZING. Each one of us got something different and tried it all. I would say the top 3 options at our table were the blackened grouper plate, the roasted salmon, and the penne vodka pasta. Could not have made those dishes any better than they were made here- everything was cooked perfectly. We also had not just 1 but 2 orders of the fried lobster bites- omg. And finally the creme brulee, key lime pie, and chocolate fondant was a perfect finishing touch to as satisfied of an eating-out night I have had in awhile.
Ambiance is cool too since you're next to these boats/a few yachts. It was quiet when we went but they close at 9, although they let us stay and talk a bit longer (thank you!).
Great service, amazing food- definitely...
