My mother and I went here for the First Time and, it will also be the "Last Time!" First, we originally stopped by just to purchase 1 Rye Bread, 1 Pumpernickel Bread and 2 Bagels; might I add that their prices are Very High. Just the 2 Breads and 2 Bagels were $17.+, which is Extremely High and Overpriced. Since we were already there, my mother suggested that we grab Breakfast. The only good thing I can say is that our waitress was very sweet but unfortunately, that was the Only Good Thing. We both ordered eggs with potatoes; I ordered a plain Bagel because I was told it was Fresh and Soft, it wasn't. The Potatoes had absolutely no taste whatsoever and they were dry and overcooked. My mother ordered bacon with her meal and it was like chewing on rubber. Sadly, we had a very bad experience for breakfast. Not to mention the Fact that they are Very Overpriced on the Breads we purchased as well as Breakfast being horrible. As I said, our waitress was the only good thing that made me Happy. She was wondering why we weren't eating our Food and when I explained how Disappointed I was with the meal and, couldn't eat the food, she removed the charges for my breakfast and only charged me for my mother's eggs and coffee. She was very nice and sweet. I will not be returning. I do have other places to eat breakfast, I just figured since we were there buying Over Priced Rye Breads, we would have breakfast. I was very unhappy with everything. I never heard of a Seedless Rye Bread costing $10.00+ and Pumpernickel Costing $6.00. Personally, I would not recommend going here but, I leave that decision up to you. I think that they are Overpriced on Everything and the Food...
Read moreI had recently purchased some food prior to the Passover holiday when I got home the food was ice cold I ordered some soup and some brisket. I called the store and spoke to the manager. She said oh I’m so sorry due to the holiday. We were serving cold food. I told her I was looking for a hot lunch to take with me, she apologize and said I will replace the team come back to the store. I told her that I would not be able to hold onto the food because I was not close to the store and I would not be in that area for a while. She informed me just come to the store and we will take care of it I will give you an IOU
I came back to the location about a week later, and I spoke to a male manager, who said he was the highest manager in the store. Explain my situation he said to me sorry I can’t honor what she said. I can only give you the soup and not the brisket he cannot give me a valid explanation, but I explained to him how disappointed I was, and how his managerial skills could definitely improve, and how he misled his customers, I would say very disappointed in the management at the store. The food itself is quite pleasurable but the management really sucks. It seems they really don’t care too much about customers and I frequently do come to this establishment and spend money and I’m in the rewards program again , I think the ownership should train their manages to inform their customers on their policies and procedures I don’t think I’ll be returning to the establishment anytime soon due to the lack of care of their customers and they can’t honor their promises very very disappointed...
Read moreThe Rotting Knish: The sad demise of Jewish Deli in South Florida.
I remember great south Florida delis like Rascal House and Wolfies and Pumpernicks. The food quality and service made them memorable. Great family moments were had there. No longer.
I think people are desperate for those bygone days, because nothing else could explain how a less than mediocre bad representation of Jewish deli food like this - complete with awful, downright dismissive service - could survive. There must be nothing better to compete with this walking dead deli.
The service staff said "no" more than they said "yes" - to the point of lunacy. They treat you like cattle, like you'd be lucky if they scrounge up one more muffin for you, or cook your meat to the requested temperature for a $28 entree (they treated my 86-year-old mom to medium lamb when she asked for rare and then refused to refire it to her request, just awful). The food was a waste of calories from soup to bland desserts. The whole meal was just sad in that you couldn't help but think how much this style of once vibrant cuisine has sunk. It breaks my heart.
There are still good delis out there. This isn't one of them. What a massive disappointment. Sometimes it's time for the old to die to make way for the new. Flakowitz,...
