Disappointing Experience at Flapjacks

We're regulars at Flapjacks, but our latest visit was a letdown. After a month-long vacation, we were looking forward to seeing our favorite server, Danielle. Unfortunately, she was no longer working during her usual shift, and the new server didn't quite meet her standards. Seems to run so much different when she is there. Maybe because she is always doing something or talking to regulars. Despite being informed about the schedule change, the service was lacking – no refills, no checks-in, and the staff seemed distracted. One girl chewing ice at counter while talking to customers and the other 2 were standing and gossiping (which we heard it all).

The atmosphere has also changed; the staff's energy seems to have waned, and the once-bustling restaurant was nearly empty. We've noticed a decline in food quality, with altered flavors and inconsistent dishes, particularly the pancakes and omelets.

Danielle's exceptional service and personality made us loyal customers. Without her, the experience feels incomplete. We did get her new schedule so will return next week on her scheduled shifts. With a new manager on board, we hope the restaurant will address these issues and reclaim its former glory.

visited Flapjacks for the first time with my mother, who’s been several times before. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. A woman seated at the bar was yelling at guests who sat next to her because she wanted a chair for her purse—despite the restaurant being packed. This went on for over 20 minutes with no staff intervention. No manager stepped in to de-escalate the situation. We waited more than 30 minutes for our food, while tables that ordered after us were served first. Our server said the delay was due to new waffle batter. When the food finally arrived, one person’s plate was missing, and they had to watch us eat (we didn’t want our food to get cold. The waffle eventually came out undercooked—raw batter in the center. We waited a while for our server to check in so we could ask for it to be remade. By the time she returned, the rest of us had finished eating. She mumbled an excuse and walked away with the plate. A replacement waffle was brought out, but it was still undercooked. At that point, over an hour had passed and we had to leave. We didn’t send it back again, especially since our server seemed annoyed with us. When the check came, the server told us she informed the manager but no discount was offered—though she said she would have given one if it were up to her. With eight years of restaurant experience myself—as a host, line cook, server, and manager—I found this incredibly unprofessional. If you're looking for a delicious breakfast spot, look no further than Flapjack's of Safety Harbor! I recently had the pleasure of dining there and was blown away by the incredible food and service.

I ordered the Mexican Omelette with added salsa and home fries, and let me tell you, it was a breakfast masterpiece. The omelette was filled with spicy chorizo and jalapenos, and the flavors were absolutely amazing. The home fries were perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection.

But the real star of the show were the pancakes. They were light, fluffy, and buttery, and melted in my mouth with each bite. I could have eaten a whole stack of them!

To wash it all down, I enjoyed a piping hot cup of coffee that was freshly brewed and delicious.

But what really made my experience stand out was the wonderful service provided by my server, Mikayla. She was friendly, attentive, and made sure that everything was just right.
