Joe’s Hot Dog’s Ice Cream & More — Restaurant in Safety Harbor

It saddens me to say it but this place is just not good. The atmosphere is sad and uninviting while those working seems depressed, and the smell, which should incite your senses and expectations, was very unpleasant. However, more important than atmosphere is the food, which was very bad.

Got a Chicago dog, but no, not good at all: no flavor, just blaw. The hotdogs themselves tasted like the cheapest you can get. Got a Chicago dog to go for my wife who was around the corner; she ate half and said she felt disgusting. Also, got a side of fries to eat there. He explained that it takes longer because they're done in the air fryer, and while I'm all for that, they came out slightly mushy and soggy.

This visit bodes ill for the hotdog establishment, but I hope things change here so that it can remain...

First off id like to start positive and say that the ice cream here is leagues better than daddy Dawgs was for any locals who went there for that. And there's the end of the positives. The atmosphere is like it was designed by someone who's okay with living in a room with just a mattress on the floor. It's totally drab. Worse of all the hotdogs are awful. Buns are wildly stale. The dogs are small imagine the smallest size hotdogs you can buy and still be able to call it that. They're basically kid sized dogs. At mega adult sized prices! Wow this place is expensive! To actually fill up here you could probably eat at a fancy restaurant for the same price. They need to majorly change their menu or they're never...

I didn’t have very high hopes due to reviews about high prices and lower food quality. To that extent, I’d like to make it clear that the prices were quite reasonable considering all the licensing they’ve done (Vienna Beef, Dunedin Bagels, the Ice Cream Club, etc.) and the quality of the food itself. The bun and meat were quite tasty, but the potato salad was a bit too sweet and the sauerkraut could’ve had some more flavor. Light on the mustard, but more is available for no cost. I think overall I really appreciated the kind service and improved interior....
