I work at the hotel across the road. I have eaten here on several occasions and have even gone so far as to recommend to our guests because of it's location. I had one disgusting experience, which can happen and is forgivable, but the way the owner handled the situation is completely unforgivable. This was some of the worst treatment I have ever received from a restaurant owner. Eat here at YOUR OWN RISK.
It has always been a fairly satisfactory restaurant good bread, good soup, and the entrees are hit or miss but never too bad. Tonight, I had someone who was eating there pick me up a piece of Tirimisu and bring it back to me. I opened it up and it seemed alright, nothing special, but ok. I took a bite and it had a very "off" sort of taste. I thought maybe it had been uncovered in the fridge too long and the cream and cake had absorbed some fridge tastes. Having worked in many restaurants, I wanted to let them know about it before they served it to a less understanding guest. I was taken aback by the response from the owner when I called. She seemed surprised because it was "so fresh." She informed me that they keep it frozen until each guest orders it. Which can be a good strategy, if you do not do a lot of volume. I said I thought that might have been the case and that I just wanted to let her know that it had developed a fridge sort of taste and that she should check it out before she served it to someone else. She responded that I was the "only person to ever complain." This was not the response I was expecting. I assumed she would want to check her product and make sure it was good.
Then I went back to my boss, who had brought me the dessert and asked her how hers was. She had not liked the flavor of hers either. She opened the box and looked at it in bright like and there was visible spots of MOLD on our food!!!! Totally disgusting. I went across the street to show the lady and when I pointed it out to the server and the lady at the counter they seemed a little shocked and were apologetic. They took it back to the kitchen and I could see the woman, who turned out to be the owner, standing there. As the server walked back, the owner said "giver her the money back." No apologies, no thank you for pointing out a problem so we can fix it, no desire to make it better. I just ate moldy food that she told me was "so fresh" and she couldn't even bother to look at me and apologize???
I have spent a lot of time in the service industry and things happen. It is unavoidable, but when they do a professional apologizes for their mistake. I won't waste my money at a place where the proprietor doesn't value someone enough to say three...

I tell her we are coming in. I wall in she starts to spray table as the owner mind you comes out drying a pot and states I can only do take out. Another customer just getting their dinner. Read moreI called in a to go order of chicken parm, I was asked of I want marinara or meat sauce, I went with meat sauce. Get home and there is hardly any sauce AT ALL. I called back and they said they put 2 spoonfuls teaspoon is more like it. $20.00 for a cheap to make spaghetti and chicken parm dinner, there ought to be sauce on it. They told me to come back and she will give me more, why should I have to go back? It's a cheap freakin easy to make dinner, common sense should have set in when you saw how little sauce was on it.
