Hungry Howie's is not exactly the best take out food on a Sunday night but it does the job UNTIL you get that one manager who treats you just as cheap and cold -- like their food! We placed an order here about 2 weeks ago on 2 large pizzas, 2 brownie cakes and an order of wings. After having my order REPEATED back to me they asked for the address which we so kindly provided them with and by the end of the call, we finally were on the same page with them in regards to our order and the location. We waited over an hr and a half for our food and we WERENT irate either. We remained calm and we chose to wait outside on the driveway after the first 30 minutes went by and noone showed. We called again and we were told by the manager that he showed up but we WERENT outside and nobody answered the phone when they called upon their arrival, yada yada. We stood outside for 35 minutes and in doing so we still received the worst service ever. Our food came COLD, we didn't receive our wings and the brownies and pizza looked like a bunch of non-committed employees (who care less about their job and most importantly their consumers) threw it in the box and shipped it out. First, they said they waited outside and noone came. Then they said that we provided them with the wrong address. And lastly, when I called to check the status of my delivery AGAIN the driver asked me WHERE was I located??? BUT you were just waiting outside for me and I didn't come??
We called that same night to let them know we WERENT satisfied with our service but of course they were closed so we tried again in the morning. We were told we were going to be reimbursed by card and if that didn't go through well they'd be happy enough to settle for giving us cash. That was two weeks ago and nothing! Everyday was "the manager isn't here" or "we're working on that for you. You'll be notified as soon as it's refunded". LIESSSS!! They ran us around for two weeks and now when we finally decided to put our foot down is when they came at us with " CALL YOUR BANK, NOT OUR PROBLEM!"
WWTTTFFFF????
The manager taking care of this matter was named MELVIN. I called one last time to my bank and they said the merchant was to have refunded us that. Then I called MELVIN and he told us "my brother doesn't know how to order, didn't answer the phone, didn't come outside" all that nonsense. He was so helpful for the first TWO weeks then I guess his boss told him it's a bank issue now he wants to act like he's known this all along. I came to my brothers defense and was nice about it because my brother at the time was very irate and frustrated and when I kindly told him what the bank said and how we did wait outside and did answer the phone he told me I was getting loud and hung up on me 3 TIMES!!!!!!! ALL I GOT TO SAY WAS THE GENTLEMENS NAME AND THEN THERE WAS A DIAL TONE. It doesn't take someone with a degree to realize that this behavior is not acceptable! You hate your job? GO TO SCHOOL!!!
And it appears to me as if there have been multiple complaints on this general manager MELVIN* WHY hasn't anyone done anything about it?? There are finer, smarter, and more respectable people out there who know how to knead dough, who aren't ILLITERATE and knows their North, South, East and West and knows how to solve problems as Petty as this quickly like 1,2,3,4.
I will not come again, I will do a charge back on my card, and I will be posting this exact post to every review out there so that customers don't fall victims to these unethical and irresponsible behaviors portrayed by these superiors we unfortunately have to call "manager".
I have contacted corporate. This would not have been a problem if he simply let me explain myself on the phone the three times he hung up on.
Pizzas not your dish dude and neither is customer service. Get a real degree and more respect for your...
Read moreWe would order from HH when we wanted top quality food and large portions, their prices reflect the higher quality and quantity.
We haven’t ordered there for awhile and decided to splurge. Including the $8 tip I spent almost $57. I have a few grievances and they are why we won’t order from them in the future:
They outsourced our delivery to DoorDash. We ordered through their app. Do they not have delivery drivers anymore? TF?
I always call them because our address requires additional instructions for the driver to delivery correctly. It’s never been a problem in the past, and we have always had delivery promptly and as instructed (there isn’t a place in the app to provide additional delivery instructions like every single one of their competitors). But this time I was told “well there’s nothing I can do about it” and someone called me back and suggested “you should stand outside and just wait for the driver to get there because half the DD drivers don’t speak English.” Horrible service. It’s your job to relay the delivery info to the driver if your customer goes the extra mile to call you on an online order to provide extra instructions. That’s why I’m paying higher prices, right? I digress.
They apparently have changed their crusts. I’m guessing they are pre-prepared since the pizza we received was a perfect circle and quite thin. This was “hand tossed” not thin crust. Maybe they are using the same supplier as little ceasers? Because that was the quality of the dough and it was almost like they had LC make the pizza and HH just plopped it in their box. The crust flavor was also absent. #trashgarbage
Their salads have become about 30% smaller. Also, the amount of feta cheese (that looked like Parmesan) amounted to about a third of the salad. Waaaaaay too much and of poor quality. At least the lettuce and veggies were fresh, credit where credit is due I guess.
I didn’t eat the sub, although I did note that the large sub was made with the same prefab crust as the pizza and seemed to be a bit shy as far as the amount of ingredients, compared to previous orders. Wimpy wimpy wimpy, we were expecting hefty hefty hefty.
So back to the price, we ordered 4 items: a large sub, a large pizza, a salad and a 2 liter. I guess I can be thankful that I got actual Mountain Dew instead of something like mountain lightning. So for that, we paid $49 for before the tip. NOT WORTH IT. I guess I should be glad that they didn’t outsource the soda.
We won’t be back until they decide to go back to their original type crusts, salad sizes and such. I’ve been ordering HH since I was in my teens, I’m in my 40s now, and I don’t appreciate the dive in quality nor the nose dive in service. Super sad about this, we should have gone to Cici’s instead. At least they have...
Read moreSo I took a lift to this area and got hungry b4 it was time for me to go home. I see this place Hungry Howies and I go in and order. Mind you I’m pregnant so I’m already starving by time I even order the food. The food takes 15 min which is understandable but by that time I literally was feeling faint. So once I got the food I ordered my lift and informed the cashier I’d be in the waiting area waiting on my lift.. she sd ok. So there aren’t any tables only benches..so I figured that was to discourage sit in guest...but because I was the only guest in the building..and I felt like I was going to start dry heaving in their lobby if I didn’t eat... I very neatly begin picking at my food.. none of the employees that had already been there say anything to me ... in walks a female who goes to the back then keeps peeking around the corner looking at me for about a minute or so. Once I make eye contact she disappears and comes back and says I can’t eat in their establishment?.... a food restaurant where I paid u to make me food...your saying I can’t eat it here? So then I inform her that I was waiting on a lift...it seems as though she paused to try and figure out any other excuse to have me leave...she didn’t say anything though..just walked off..no have a good day.. no thanks for spending money with us... just don’t eat the food u just bought from us here. So now I’m sitting in the back of my Lyft trying to focus on this so I don’t throw up...all I needed to do was eat. Not a pleasant experience at all.. I’m also a seasoned restaurant manager so I definitely know what can be accepted and what can’t.. as well as ..it’s not like I went in there and bought a $5 meal..I spent $18 on food just for myself that won’t be fresh by time I get home... and because I’m pregnant and sick probably won’t be even be able to eat it once I get home..just a waste ...first impressions are the most important..won’t ever...
