Small, local and fresh! Surprisingly good selection of fresh fish and shrimp. Cullen was great at recommending new fish for us to try. In addition to the shrimp we also purchased some of the white grouper chowder. Kyle's also makes freshly grilled salmon and a variety of other chowders and soups. All the chowders and soups are frozen and ready to take home. Cullen is also a trained chef and was able to suggest great ways to grill our next purchase, some fresh wahoo. Shrimp was available in large, XL and colossal sizes. Also was precooked for last minute shrimp cocktail when needed. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our purchases were packed well, with extra ice to keep them cool on the drive home - a nice and appreciated touch! A great selection of spices and marinades also available by the door, especially the datil pepper based marinades and seasonings. This is our new seafood market! We vacationed in St. Augustine the past eight days. I was wanting fresh seafood and wanted to support local. I went to the local forum for St. Augustine and was recommended Kyle’s Seafood immediately by several people. My husband and I purchased scallops for myself and scallops and shrimp to take back to my to South Carolina for my parents. We ate the scallops that evening at the beach house. They were the most amazing, freshest and sweetest scallops I’ve had in a very long time. They were so amazing that we went back for more scallops, more shrimp, as well as the most beautiful lobster I have seen it in a long time. The staff was amazing and made you feel like you’ve known them forever! We will definitely be back several times on our next trip. This is a MUST stopping place for us!!! This is the best seafood market not just in St. Augustine but in the entire JAX metro. I have been to most of Kyle’s competition and in lieu of posting bad reviews of them, I will tell you what Kyle’s does so very right. When you walk in, there is NO smell. Unlike other fish markets, no fishy smell at Kyle’s. You will see the whole fish with clear eyes laying there, fresh out of the ocean for you to choose. Please note that other fish markets cut the heads off the fish so that you the buyer do not see milky glazed over eyes and realize that the fish is old. The guys at Kyle’s KNOW how to properly cut fish so that you get fab fillets vs one competitor who has high school kids slicing up tuna.
