My husband and I had lunch at La Casa Bianca on Sunday. The owner, Sonny, an efficient and personable man with the sweetest smile, waited on us and served us. He was attentive, providing information that helped us make a decision. The caprese appetizer was nicely presented with a perfectly reduced balsamic. The three large meatballs, in a three cheese sauce, were outstanding! Homemade bread (baked daily), with a crusty outside and pillow soft inside, was also served and was perfect for dipping into the sauce. My husband, when taking the first bite of a meatball said, “Oh my gosh, these are homemade, they are delicious! We also had the eggplant Parmesan which is thinly sliced eggplant that has been lightly breaded and fried and then layered into a mound. It is covered with marinara sauce and cheese and served with spaghetti. Beautifully presented and outstanding! We finished off the meal with homemade tiramisu, Sonny’s mother’s recipe. We took food home as we also had a tasty stromboli. On our way out, Sonny introduced us to Fausto, the Italian chef, another charming individual. It was a lovely meal and certainly the best Italian we have had in the many cities we have visited. Better than Navarre’s Bella Luna, where we had been going. The best description of La Casa Bianca is authentic. It is now our favorite restaurant and we highly...
Read moreAlthough I live in Gulf Breeze, I drive past La Casa everyday from work. I had met Sonny a few times in bars and restaurants and he described his passion for pizza and the fact that he was taking over a space on Hwy 98. I originally toyed with the idea of carryout but the online menu states that the pizza does not "travel" well. I am originally from Cleveland, OH and miss the family pizzerias from home. We finally broke down and the made the 25 minute drive to Sonny's place. We walked in and were greeted immediately by Summer who was extremely helpful and friendly. We took seats at the bar and watched the pizza action in the wood fired oven. Now the best part, we ordered the Sophia Loren. This pizza was amazing. Thin tasty crust, perfect sauce, and toppings that you could taste that did not overpower. All of the flavors blended together, we ended up eating the whole thing not only because it was delicious but it was extremely light as well. Sonny gave us some crushed red and some infused olive oil for dipping but the flavor of the pizza stood on it's own. We will definitely be back to sample other items on the menu even if it means wrestling with Hwy 98 traffic. If you are in the area carve out some time to visit this perfect little...
Read moreLily and I are admitted foodies. With our many travels, we are forever looking for that "oooo hell yeah" place. Pizza was the craving in our home-based area tonight and as I had recently read a review on La Casa Bianca we figured what the heck. Let's try a new restaurant. As soon as we entered, Sonny (owner) warmly welcomed us and we decided to sit at the bar and have a show. We started with basic side salad that had our fave frisèe in the fresh mix. We watched our new friend, Fausto, prepare Pizza after pizza in front of us and anticipated yumminess. No disappointments! We had a Siciliana whose crust was so damned light, chewy and crispy from being wood fired, that yes it was quickly devoured. We wanted more! Asked our Pizza magician what Pizza he would eat with anchovies added? LOL. I guess they aren't used to that request, as he excitedly immediately said "tomato, basil, garlic and olive for anchovy". I did ask to add mozzarella, but Wow!! What a delicious pizza!! We had a beautiful meal with some of the friendliest people! Thank you, Sonny, for your hospitality and Fausto for your Pizza magic! We can't...
