I was driving west on Park Blvd towards Oakhurst when I spotted a advertising sign for Micky's Quinn's St. Patty $5 beer special. I had never been there so I was hungry and having a nice cold beer on Easter Saturday sounded sooooo good.
I was greeted by a nice young red-haired young man named Travis.
Travis served me a nice cold Top Shock from the tap. It was the best!
I asked him to see a food menu since I had not eaten yet for the day.
The menu has a large number of various food items and two of them stood out to me; Fish n Chips and Carlos' Ruben.
I asked Travis what he would recommend between the two.
He said, "Well, we are currently out of the corned beef, so I would go with the Fish n Chips."
We both laughed and I ordered the Fish n Chips.
I then received a video phone call from my good friend in Atlanta and I went outside to talk with him so as to not disturb the rest of the patrons.
I sat out front at a table by myself and continued my video call with my friend.
Travis found me and brought my lunch out to me. I even introduced him to my friend on the call.
Now, from the way I went to town on eating the delicious steak fries that came with it along with a small cup of coleslaw, you'd think I had smoked a fat doobie and had the "munchies". 😆 🤣 😂
I finished the fries and was so satisfied with that and the coleslaw, I ended up taking home the fish to snack on for later.
I was very satisfied with my choice and getting to know Travis who by the way is a native of St.Pete and grew up near Redington Beach.
I am a fellow native of Fort Lauderdale but spent summers here back in the '70s with my cousins who grew up in Seminole but moved away many years ago.
I told Travis that my cousin Bill and I used to jump off the far end of the Redington Beach fishing pier and his little sister Carolyn "ratted" on us and I was grounded on my summer vacation for the rest of my week.
"Damn You Carolyn!" 😆 🤣 😂
I highly recommend stopping by Micky Quinn's Pub for lunch and a nice cold beer and ask for Travis as well.

Read moreI was very pleased by the atmosphere at Mickey Quinn's, which feels authentic and cozy with plenty of dark wood and traditional Irish accents, with actual shillelaghs on display. As someone whose been to Ireland before, they really felt like I was back in the emerald isle!
The beer-battered fried cheese was delicious, and my girlfriend (an exceptionally picky eater, might I add) adored them. First time I've tried fried cheese in a beer batter! Definitely was a game-changer for me. The beer cheese cheesesteak sandwich was also delicious.
They seemed a bit understaffed, however, but the bartender didn't skip a beat - he (forgot his name, sorry) poured our drinks, took our food order and served it promptly while tending to literally everyone else in the restaurant, single-handedly. Very impressive!
Overall, we were both very pleased with our experience and look forward to...
