I called in a take out order. I chose this restaurant due to its high reviews on Google. When I placed my order I was surprised at the 40-45 minute estimate for my order to be ready. I expected they were quite busy; however, that was not what I saw when I arrived. Walking in I saw a sign that said cash only, I don't mind businesses being cash only, I just wish I had known ahead of arriving, when I entered it was a dingy cramped room. It seemed upon my arrival to pick up my order prompted the owner to start cooking. So, I waited. The two tables in the room were not of any interest to me to sit down at. The piano that the owner used as a desk was quite a mess including a bottle of crown Royal and a bottle of shampoo sitting next to the chair. I ordered pad thai, lumpia, mami soup, and pork ribs. The pad thai was nothing special, lumpia were disgusting, soup was delicious and ribs were amazing. I am torn on trying this place again as a couple of dishes were very good, but the unorganized dirty front of house is a big red flag to what the kitchen would look like. Also even though there is a recent picture of the menu online. The prices seem to be whatever the owner wants to charge. I don't mind paying extra for good food, but I prefer the person selling something to me to be upfront...
Read moreI'm gonna give it a 3.7 because this is the first time I believe i actually ate from a Philippine establishment. So, my take. 🤔 I guess the price and the amount of food they give could very well be right. I just didn't understand when i ordered it and he said what it costs. Definitely an "OMFG What" moment. But i understood when I saw the amount of food. Shrimp fried rice? Plentiful. Didn't look too appealing to the eyes. And if you don't know. From experience being a chef for so long, you understand that the very first taste, is with the eyes. I could see that the rice was mushy, overcooked, not mixed well with all the ingredients. Vegetables were definitely fresh fresh. Shrimp were big and fresh. I think the mushiness of the rice and flavor not being mixed well, dropped the score. The noodles, pancit, same thing. Not mixed well. Super fresh ingredients and veggies. Yadda yadda. Now those wings. Superb. I like them . Them basic shelf sauce is the only problem. This chicken deserves a homemade sweet sauce. My take: less quantity, more quality. Make smaller portions, drop the price accordingly but express this cuisine in a better light. Even then you'll be sure that every part of the dish gets the flavors...
Read moreWe were driving back home from Lowe’s and we were goong stop off at the fireworks stand and lo and behold. There was this cute little Filipino grocery store restaurant in the shopping plaza so I went inside.
The owner was so nice. She wanted me to try all of their specialty dishes so I sampled per her request. Wow it was delicious. Their lumpia eggrolls are the best! I ordered the vegetarian noodle dish and that was amazing. I ordered it with the pork. We also ordered the short ribs, the beef with broccoli, the curry chicken. All were incredible. As a little grocery shopping there. I bought a cute broom that Asians use and it works really good for soft sand when you’re trying to get it off of tile. And I also got some lychee fruit and Asian snacks.
I’m thrilled to have this five minutes from my house. They’re gonna get a ton of business from me.
