Haven't been to JMJ in a while, so decided to go. It's part Asian grocery, part restaurant. The owner is a bit older, and as friendly and courteous as ever. I was there for the hot food, and looks like there's still a daily special of entree with rice, in addition to what is offered on the menu.
The choices that day were curry chicken, chicken adobo, and citrus pork (I forget exactly what it was called). Both tables were occupied when I got there so I opted for carry out. I chose a combination plate with chicken adobo and the pork offering. The owner asked if I wanted any of the sauce on my rice, and I requested the sauce from the chicken adobo.
The portions served were very plentiful. The food was still nice save hit when I found a shade tree to eat lunch under. It was also as delicious as I remember. JMJ still makes some of the best adobo I've ever had with the exception of my friend returned adobo. The pork dish was also really good. Both meat options were fork tender and full of flavor.
Still some of the best Filipino food I've had at a restaurant. I can't wait...
Read moreWe stopped here today for lunch. Other reviews mention that it's a one-man shop, so we were prepared for that. Patience can be valuable. The shop itself isn't very large, and there aren't many tables, so it really isn't a big deal. Also note that it's cash only, which we hadn't realized until we saw the sign on the door. The owner made us an appetizer while we checked out the menu. That was delicious. My wife decided to have one of the day's specials, after getting a sample of each. I was going to order from the menu, but the owner warned me that it would take a bit longer, so I chose a different one of the specials. Both specials were also excellent. Another couple showed up while we were there, and told us they'd been many times, and that everything there was great. I can believe it. We're not in the area for long, but hope to come back. If not, then we'll definitely return when we're in...
Read moreWe came across this place on our way to Orlando. As we walked in we literally told the owner: “We’re lost and we don’t know what to order” he patiently gave us a taste of the food he was already cooking and we decided for the Filipino Pancit which was amazing he also gave us a sample of the Purple Yam ice cream which we ordered a Halo Halo and it was delicious. He was extremely friendly since there were no more customers he sat down and ate beside us and we talked for little bit. Definitely a...
