BUYER BEWARE...Yesterday afternoon I went to the "Radio Shack" store in Inverness to purchase some 1.5V AAAA batteries. The clerk, Nathaniel, presented me with a six pack of Radio Shack batteries from behind the counter. I noticed that the packaging appeared old so I questioned him if the batteries are fresh in which he assured me that they were. When I got home prior to putting the battery into my device I tested the batteries on a multimeter and found the voltage to be only 1.46V. Fresh batteries should be between 1.55 to 1.60V. The store was already closed for the night so this morning I went back to ask for a refund. Nathaniel tested the batteries with his meter and got the same results insisting that the batteries are fine and refused to refund my money. I advised him that since I made the purchase on a credit card I will have to dispute the charge in which he replied "do what you have to do". I have filed a dispute and subsequently contacted the Radio Shack Corp. to find that this store is not an authorized Radio Shack store or affiliate although they may have been at one time. They advised me that they are also not authorized to display the official Radio Shack logo. They further advised me that the product code and packaging from the batteries is many years old. I will never do business with this retailer again. I will also be filing a complaint with the BBB. UPDATE: I just received a call from the store manager, Milton, who earnestly apologized for my experience and immediately credited my account upon learning of my situation. Apparently the employee is new and his customer relations skills...
Read moreNeeded an HDMI to mini HDMI cable for my camcorder. The Radio Shack is on my way home from work in Inverness and is so convenient not to mention iconic! The fall of the brick and mortar stores has been such a loss to everyone. The older folks, like myself, feel the disconnect that online shopping has caused. The person to person exchange is what made these stores so wonderful. Customer service is really customer service and you really get to know the people who work there. The comfort level of buying a product is greatly increased once you feel comfortable the person selling the product to you. Can't get that from online shopping đ The guys in the Radio Shack are super friendly and very helpful. We went from talking about the purchase to hunting, fishing, and four wheeling. By the time I left I felt like I had made two new friends. Again.... Can't get that from online shopping!! Definitely recommend everyone stopping by. If not to buy, at least to look around and meet these...
