Okay, I admit I was hesitant to dine in a gas station but I heard too many good things about this food and I have to say, the glowing reviews didn't even do enough just to just how good it all was. First of all, the tables and stools are reasonably comfortable and there are highchairs available. There are food options (NYNY Pizza and Jeremiah's Italian Ice) if you want to dine in, but have someone in your group that wouldn't be up for trying this amazing food. The service was also stellar! I have gotten pretty substandard service at other restaurants and definitely don't expect much from a counter service/food court set up, but they checked in to see how we were enjoying everything, brought us something extra just to try (it was chana masala that I wanted to order but was hesitant after experiencing it at other places and really not liking it. For context, I do love chickpeas, the dishes were just not well balanced at other restaurants making THOSE dishes unpleasant), and to bring us things to pack up our leftovers. Everyone at Saffron Xpress was very kind and seemed to be genuinely caring that we had the best experience (we did!). We got some popular dishes, butter chicken, daal tadka, chicken 65 (on the indochinese section), and garlic naan. Each dish was better than I've had anywhere else, crafted with care, and very well-balanced. All of the chicken was tender and the chickpeas were so perfect! The naan had every texture it should (slight crisp, tender, yet chewy) and that perfect little punch from the garlic. Even the rice was perfectly fluffy and tasted great! Oh! We also had the mango lassi and it was excellent! I don't think I could ever say enough about this place. I am looking forward to returning and exploring more of their menu. I am so glad we tried this place It's definitely being added into our regular rotation of...
Read morePrepare your taste buds for an explosion of flavor! This restaurant has absolutely nailed both Indian and Indo-Chinese cuisine. We had the pleasure of trying the Butter Chicken Bowl, the Chicken Tikka Masala Bowl, and the Lentil Daal Makhani Bowl, and each dish was a standout in its own right. The Butter Chicken was rich, creamy, and utterly divine – the perfect balance of sweet and savory. The Chicken Tikka Masala offered a delightful warmth and depth of flavor, with tender pieces of chicken in a vibrant, aromatic sauce. And the Daal Makhani? Pure comfort in a bowl! The lentils were cooked to perfection, with a velvety texture and a deeply satisfying, buttery richness. Let's not forget the Garlic Chili Garlic Naan – a revelation! The perfect blend of garlicky goodness with a subtle kick of chili, it was the ideal accompaniment to soak up every last drop of those incredible sauces. Each dish was not only delicious but also tasted uniquely flavored, showcasing the chef's mastery of spices and culinary techniques. The quality of the ingredients was evident, and the care taken in preparing each bowl truly shone through. If you're looking for an exceptional Indian and Indo-Chinese dining experience, look no further. This place is a gem, and I wholeheartedly give it a 5-star rating. We can't wait to return and explore more of their...
Read moreAs a discerning Indian who dabbles quite a bit in cooking, I must say I was pleasantly surprised with this establishment. I took my wife along as we have 2 different palates ( she's from Pakistan and has more of a Mughlai affinity and I am from South India) and I trust her judgement on that part. Quite unique for an Indian restaurant as they have the sauces (curries) separate from the Protein or Vegetables, so you can mix and match. We got the Spinach Curry with potatoes and it was excellent. We tried samples of all but 2 of the curries and they were all quite tasty. They also have bowls where you can choose from 3 or 7 dishes from the menu on a bed of rice. This is in addition to the Naan ( yes...they have a Tandoor Oven) that they make fresh, on-demand. We got a chicken kadai and lamb chop dish and 10/10 for those 2. What REALLY differentiates this place from all the other Indian Restaurants around is that they list the allergens and contents ( Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free). Let's just say I am very impressed and I will be trying their Indian-Chinese dishes which is very unique to India. Nimesh, the proprietor is super nice...
