Its difficult to express how disappointed and embarrassed I was by the treatment we received at the Legacy Restaurant on November 17th. I chose this restaurant because I wanted to take my friend who had just received her citizenship and her husband for a special dinner.Ii was also the anniversary of when she came to this country many years ago.The woman who called me about the reservation was very nice and said it would be fine to bring flowers for the table and a dessert. I made a special trip that morning to bring the flowers and the dessert. I also had requested a booth as I thought that would be more comfortable for my guests and asked that I be given the check.
When we arrived we were taken to a booth. There were no flowers so I had to ask for them to bring them. The waiter was rude! There is no other way to say it. He asked if this was a special occasion and was told what it was, He spoke some Spanish to my guests. He then proceeded to take our order in a manner that was embarrassing and somewhat demeaning. He plunked my salad in front of me and I use that word on purpose. I had to ask him to bring my guest her salad that she had ordered, to take a drink order for her husband, to bring the dessert which he finally did with a candle in it and said Happy Birthday!! I had to ask for plates for the dessert. He also handed the bill to my guest although I had specifically asked to be given the bill when I made the reservation. The place was virtually empty so none of this was because they were busy! This would have been uncomfortable if it was just a regular dinner but unforgivable when I was entertaining guests. It has taken me a long time to decide to write this but it has bothered me enough that I felt I needed to do something. The bus boy was very nice and friendly. thank goodness. I want to say once again how disappointed and embarrassed I was for myself and my...
Read moreJust opened under new ownership, the restaurant has been redecorated..... Very nice... With a stunning entrance with a floor to ceiling wine wall ... The food in my two trips, has just been just mediocre .. They claim a French type menu, which I dispute.. We had a reservation and were seated in a room with tall booths, however this long and narrow room is a runway to and from the kitchen.
Waited at the table and was not greeted by our server for a good fifteen minutes, ordered a cocktail and wine, which was promptly served, enjoyed the drinks for about 15 minutes and then ordered two soups, lobster bisque which was quite good and a Mushroom Brie that looked like the Lobster bisque, it had tomato base, with Brie and mushrooms, definitely a bad combination and was not that good .. Ordered a salad which never came, and then the wait began, 45 minute's later after getting management, because our server wasn't responding .. The food arrived. Duck was pretty good Trout, terrible, only gave you half the trout, served with an Almond cream sauce. That was more like a parmesan tomato base, didn't work. Finally Red Snapper with a citrus orange reduction sauce and baby vegetable with a creamed Califlower Sounds great, but...... There was no sauce, no seasoning, very bland and dry... As was the creamed Califlower very bland right out of a baby food jar.. Now management was gracious and adjusted the bill for the bad snapper ... They were packed and I'm sure the majority enjoyed the visit.... Hopefully they will get their act...
Read moreMy wife and I celebrated Valentine’s Day, by enjoying a meal at The Legacy Restaurant in the Villages, Florida. I’ve never seen so many people gathered together in one place for a meal on Valentine’s Day. I consider that a testament to the prestige and quality of this place. In order not to be overly full, my wife and I bypassed the appetizers and salad, and went straight to the entrees. Prior to ordering, they brought out warm bread and a delicious unique herb and mint butter. The bread was good, but could have been a bit more moist. My wife ordered the sautéed Sea Bass, with Rice and Corn Risotto, and sautéed Broccolini, which she said was flavorful and well prepared. I ordered the Seafood Ravioli, which consisted of large cheese stuffed tender ravioli with a rich butter and cheese cream sauce, topped with perfectly steamed shrimp, sublime sautéed scallops, and a juicy and flavorful lobster tail, with a side of warm drawn butter, for dipping. It takes some kind of skill for a Chef to prepare so many different components of a dish and have everything turn out perfectly. We also shared a decadent slice of Cheesecake with flambéed cherries jubilee. One suggestion that I would like to make is for The Legacy Restaurant to consider offering a selection of Non-Alcoholic Wines, for those of us who do not drink alcohol. After 4 million views of my contributions, I was honored to review yet another great restaurant. We will definitely be dining at this...
