Short Version: Good tacos? Yes. Great tacos? No. Will I go again? Yes.
We're in Miami, which means besides Cuban Food, Mexican Food is among the Grand Masters which reign over the culinary scene here. Now, if you're going to try to do tacos (which is what this review is focusing on), you gotta get it right.
So, tacos al pastor; the famous Mexican seasoned pork. Tiagos decided to go with the corn tortilla. Interesting choice. Can't quite put my finger on whether these corn tortillas are hand-made or store bought. Anyone who knows anything about tortillas knows corn tortillas are a pain to make. Additionally, these I had didn't quite have that peculiar yet fascinating corn-meal flavor that hand-made corn tortillas have. Safe assumption? Store-bought. But it's a food truck right? Cut them some slack.
Now, the pork al pastor. I am an absolute lover of this stuff. I've flown all over and looked for the perfect pork al pastor. Two places have caught me by surprise: (1) Bodega @ South Beach, and (2) La Pasadita @ Florida City. Two different porks al pastor, both incredibly good. Tiagos? Their al pastor pork is OK.
Now, the construction. This is a big one. DO. NOT. OVERSTUFF. MY. TACOS. If I can't close it up, there's WAY too much stuff in there. I had sauce, toppings, and pork flying all over the place cause it was too stuffed. If you're going to stuff it like that, lay two extra corn tortillas on the bottom of the thermo-pak so all the stuff that falls out, falls out onto the tortilla (bonus tacos).
Finally, some advice (to the owners): get some flour tortillas. For the love of everything that is holy, not everyone likes corn tortillas. I don't even care if they're store-bought. Either you already have these (and your signage doesn't make it obvious), or you just prefer corn tortillas. I don't know which it is. Just, please get some flour tortillas. Let me walk up and order "a Taco Trio, al Pastor, on flour". Throw two extra tortillas on the bottom of the main 3, load up those tacos and let the good times role. Hell, charge me 2 extra bucks for the tortilla bed, I don't care. Honestly. Having to eat my fillings out of the bottom of a thermo-pak with a plastic fork? Not cool. Quasi-tacos made by the fillings spilling out of Taco Trio? Totally cool.
I like to support my local businesses so expect me to come back. Hope things are slightly better the second time.

Read moreI just had one of the most disturbing experiences at this food truck. I asked for a promotion that I have received in the past at the same location, but there was a new person at the register that I have never seen before. He said his name was Gabriel, middle aged Latino male. When he rung up my order I noticed the promotion price was not included, so I mentioned it to him. He claimed he did not know about that promotion. I asked if there was someone who he can ask about it. He said he did not have to ask anyone in a very rude manner. So, at that point instead of getting into it with him, I asked him to please call a manager so I could speak to them instead. He refused, saying that he did not like my attitude and that he did not have to call a manager for me or take my order. I then proceeded to call the guys on the grill, one of them was familiar from when I've been there in the past. He was changing the order to the promotion and he contacted someone on the phone. He claimed it was the manager, I asked him if he could call him back. I left a message with my number. I then left without any food, and called another location of Tiago's Tacos and spoke to young lady who also refused to let me speak to a manager, but at the very least she took down my number. Good professional and polite customer service does not seem to be a priority with this business. I then received a call back from some teenager who claimed to be the manager for this location. Obviously he was not by the way he was speaking to me and how young he sounded. He was also very rude, so I hung up. Samuel the manager for the other location called me back and allowed me to vent about the situation, while claiming he would call the owner for me and have him call me to address the situation. Needless to say I will never be spending money on this business again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE TO WASTE MONEY ON A BUSINESS WHO DOES NOT AT THE VERY LEAST MAKE THEIR MANAGEMENT AVAILABLE WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM. The fact that good customer service and respect for the customers is not taught as a priority to the employees is disturbing but a trend that has been plaguing small businesses in recent years. DO...

First impressions matter. So when trying a new place to eat, I come with high expectations when I'm spending my hard earned money. Tiagos Tacos not only impressed me but also left a great taste in my mouth. Both figuratively and literally.
I ordered a variety of items like the taco trio and chalupa tacos( my personal favorite), with all three protein options (Biria, chicken, and steak), the loaded fries, and I got to try the fried oreos too. The fried oreos were such a sweet treat and a delight for someone who has a sweet tooth. Every order was made with exquisite flavor and came out consistently good. The portions were very good, dare I say generous.
The front counter staff went out of his way to make sure large orders were correct. Flag me down for ingredient clarification, and I admit i wasn't very concise with my order the second time around. The front counter staff member in question kept things polite and professional. They went out of their way to go back of house and make sure the order came out exactly how I wanted it. Your milage may vary, depending on how busy it may be, but it shows care and professionalism. Big points on that. It didn't go unnoticed.
I did order a lot of food. I went twice in one day. For what I spent there I wouldn't get even a fraction of the amount at "other" taco places or even fast food joints" Ding Ding TB that's the bell of defeat and Tiagos Tacos is the new champ. Sorry, not sorry.
If you're passing through, It is must try for sure. If you're a West kendall Local, you definitely want to try too. You may find it's your new favorite taco spot and something to add to your list of places to eat out. I'd normally have pictures to show, but the last thing I was going to do was mess with my phone while enjoying every last bite.
They also didn't pay me to write this. I just like reviewing places. I will...
