As far as locally owned joints go, this one is doing thing right. The service is great, the atmosphere is cool, the food is excellent, and the portions are HUGE! Turnpike's is serving up some of your traditionally favorite sandwiches, sides, burgers, salads, and breakfast all day, but each dish looks like it has been supersized! We ordered the Pretzel Bites to start. For our meal, I had the Chicken and Pastrami Melt, and my wife ordered the Philly, both with their house made chips and a side of ranch. So let's start with the pretzels, they were crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, I think that they may fry them instead of baking, or maybe they do both! They came served with stone ground mustard, and cheese sauce. The chicken on my sandwich was beautifully grilled, and then topped with fresh sliced pastrami, melted cheese, jalapenos, and then drizzled with spicy mayo, did I mention it was as big as my arm! My wife's Philly was everything you would expect, flavorful thin sliced ribeye with peppers and onions, topped with melted provolone! Their house made chips remind me of the crispy ribbon fries you get at a fair or carnival, dip them in ranch or ketchup to your taste and you'll never want a bagged potato chip again! Now this place also serves up some tasty desserts, but if you plan on eating a full meal and still having room for dessert, then you better skip every meal before you come, or share your entree. Unfortunately we didn't do either and left too full to even try. Oh well, it just gives us a reason to go back.

🌟 Best Kept Secret in Spring Hill! 🌟 I can't believe I've driven past this gem so many times without stopping in! After a friend recommended it to me a month ago, I finally decided to give it a try—and wow, what a treat! I ordered the Dublin Burger, and let me tell you, this isn't your average burger. It’s a thick, juicy, handmade patty topped with tender corned beef, melted Swiss cheese, and perfectly caramelized onions. I asked for it medium rare, and it came out cooked to absolute perfection—something many places struggle to get right. The flavor was phenomenal, and you could tell it was made with care. The onion rings were just as impressive—crispy, golden, and downright delicious. Honestly, finding a spot where the sides are as good as the main dish is rare, but they nailed it here. Special shoutout to my server, Autumn! She was friendly, attentive, and made sure my glass was never empty. Great service like hers makes all the difference. Before leaving, I couldn’t resist trying a cup of their homemade Cream of Mushroom soup, and wow—Chris, you outdid yourself with that one. (I was told that Chris comes in everyday and make the soup) It was rich, flavorful, and the perfect finish to a fantastic meal. This was my first visit, but it definitely won’t be my last. I’m already planning to come back for breakfast and dinner. This place is a rare find with an extensive menu of handmade dishes, and I sincerely hope they don’t change a thing. If you’re in the area, do yourself a favor and stop in. You won’t regret it!

We've been here several times. Whenever I have a good experience at a restaurant, I like to wait until I've had a chance to go back a few more times to make sure the good experience wasn't just a one-off before I give them a rating and review. Each time we come here, we either leave overfull or full with take home boxes. Their cheese sauce is divine and their portions are for the most part huge. You definitely get what you pay for here. The flavor is great, things are seasoned, they're not afraid of putting spicy peppers in there, it's just simple great tasting diner food. The one exception, and the reason this is 4 stars instead of 5, is the potato salad. On one of my multiple visits here I decided to try the potato salad instead of the fries. The taste was great, but the quantity made me feel like I made a terrible choice. The side of potato salad came out in what felt like the tiniest serving cup I've ever seen, just wide enough to fit a fork into. It was a real feels-bad moment. If I had known the serving size was so small for the potato salad, I would have opted for something else. All in all, this is one of my favorite places in town and we will be back again and again.

I believe in leaving honest reviews....so with that being said...today I took my husband out for lunch for a treat. I've been wanting to give Turnpike's new owners a second chance. Last year we ordered some take out and it really wasn't that great but they literally had just taken over so I overlooked it. Todat upon entering we noticed how clean the dining area was and we were promptly greeted and seated. My husband ordered the Giovanni Italian sub, I got the Black n Blue Burger and we splurged with the Fried Green Tomatoes app. The Fried Green Tomatoes appetizer was excellent. It is served with a "roumalade" sauce but I personally felt like it was thousand island dressing. It didn't matter because they were so good. The Black n Blue Burger was honestly nothing exceptional. The presentation was nice and the bacon was cooked perfectly. It didn't seem to be fresh ground beef, in fact, I would wager it was a frozen patty. It definitely was not worth $15 but this is the world we live in. The Giovanni sub was the worst. We looked at the online menu ahead because my husband has brain cancer and has trouble talking. To save him some embarrassment I thought it would be easier for him to see exactly what he wanted. Unfortunately, this sandwich looked absolutely nothing like what is advertised. It had very little meat and two slices of cheese...he ate only half and this picture is what we brought home. Again, definitely not worth $15.95. Our server was exceptional...very kind. The restaurant is very clean. It just left us feeling deflated in our expectations. Due to my husband's cancer we are struggling financially and going out to eat like this is a rate treat. Our bill came to $48 for lunch. The only consolation was those delicious Fried Green Tomatoes. I recommended to our server that they try pairing them with cheesy grits like the Tupelo Honey Cafe in Asheville NC does. It sounds like a strange combination but it's incredible. So that's my honest review. I feel bad for having to write it but the quality of the meals was not reflected...

arrived a little before 2pm 4 tables of guests. 2 were eating (1 table was an employee with her family.. the other was an older man eating alone) and 2 were in the process of leaving. we sat down. took a few mins for a sever to come over. handed us menus and said she would be back to get our drinks. came back, never told us the "specials" (which were on a tiny board at the back of the restaurant and such small print you had to walk up to see it. we asked a couple questions about different menu items. we ordered 2 waters, 1 with lemon & 1 sweet n low (when the server brought it she said very snarky "we have lemonade" I replied "she is diabetic and cant have the fountain lemonade because of the amount if sugar in it" we ordered the fried pickles and a cold Turkey sandwich with plain fries. 20 mins passed. food came out, nice portion size. the "smoked turkey" had 0 flavor and didnt taste smoked at all. the breading was falling off the pickles so you had to pick it up and eat it separate from the pickle. owner came by thanked us for coming in saw I wasnt eating and asked if everything was ok. I said yea it's fine just didnt care for it

server wasnt friendly until she saw me not eating it. asked if everything was ok, i replied "yea it's ok, just no flavor" she went to the owner and told her. (I brought it home for my teenager cause let's be real they will eat anything) server offered dessert and we declined and I said "no thanks we arent going to pay $6.99 for a brownie" she did say "sorry " and went to get our bill cashing out I asked if they honor Military with a discount and they do so for that 👍👍👍

2 waters jr. turkey sub with fries fried pickles $15+

for the service half a star for the portion size ☆☆ for the price 👎 dont waste your time snow birds will keep it open in the winter but after the "newness" wears off dont see it staying open long unless the staff gets friendlier and the dont...

We went to this place today with high expectations from what we have seen and heard. I have never written a bad review of a place ever.. Until today. I would leave it alone, but the waitress was very challenging when I asked questions about offering a steak or steak based meal and there being no steak sauce. ( Said it is too expensive for them to buy A-1). Our visit went like this. Saturday morning approximately 1130am, we walk in and get sat. The waitress says give her a few minutes to come back for our drinks because "we just had a few tables all at once" about 10-15 mins later she comes back and asks about our drinks. We wait another ten mins for two coffees. After dropping off the drinks she says she needs to go get her book. We wait a few more minutes and she returns. We order, but were almost about to leave when she came to the table finally. Food came out fairly quick. We barely could eat our meals due to the vegetables that go in the skillets being barely cooked. Steak skillet was bland and all they had was hot sauce to accommodate it. The quality vs the price didn't make sense. We barely ate our meals and went to pay the 45$ for a steak skillet, pancakes and another dish with eggs that she couldn't eat due to the Ketchup bottle being all water practically. The was no cognizance by the staff to see that we may be displeased. We payed and that was when the lame talk of steak sauce came up. I can say we won't go back. We traveled to try this place and it was not at all what they were when they initially opened. Possibly just a bad understaffed day? There were plenty of empty tables and no wait. The portions were ginormous, so if we did like it, we would have been full for sure. Now the place was immaculate and clean as a whistle. I will definitely say we appreciated that. But...
