I had eaten here some time back and really enjoyed it. So I was looking forward to it again. But as is customary it seems for so many restaurants in this area, esp on the island, the first visit is good but the next time isn't. Tends to make a fool of one's self when bragging to ppl you are taking out to eat at a place decided on based on ur own positive experience. I was so ready for some good ole southern BBQ and vegetables. I was so looking forward to this meal that I ordered the 2 meat combo and extra sides so that I could have alot of take home to eat later. The pulled pork have much taste at all. And the ribs were only approximately 2 inches long-not kidding! The Brunswick stew was absolutely hands down the sorry I've ever eaten in my life! And I realize that there is great variety in stews at BBQ restaurants but What they served for Brunswick stew wouldn't even come close to qualifying for Brunswick stew at any other BBQ restaurant I've ever ate at in my whole life. Just didn't look or taste like Brunswick stew whatsoever. The other side's were either just so so & were frozen or canned--collard greens, mac & cheese, baked beans, black eye peas. I also ordered the fried okra but it only comes as an appetizer for a shopping $5.49!!! And even it wasn't good and how hard is it to get fried okra right? My son ordered some basic salad with chicken in it for over $8. The total food bill was almost $42 for Exactly what I've spoken of for 2 ppl. Also the service is pretty much non existent. U order at the register when u first enter. Then go seat urself, get ur own beverage and go all the way to the back of dining area to fill up ur own little containers of BBQ sauces. A server tried making himself present and available but really what was he going to do for me when I had already done everything for myself bc that's how they have it set up. So he came across as really hanging around for a tip even tho he didn't do anything for me except to get a couple to go containers for all the food I took home but didn't enjoy like I had so hoped I would. Just being very real and...
Read moreVisited this location for lunch today. It is a very unassuming exterior that opens up into a beautiful dining room putting you in the mood to eat great barbecue. You order before you sit and there's a large menu to your right which is very easy to read to order from as well as very helpful friendly faces inside. Prices are in line with most barbecue these days $15-$20. My order was the two meat special with brisket and turkey and the "side of the day" which was chili and I picked the cornbread over garlic bread for my toast. I believe my order came to $22 with a tip. I found a seat after filling up my sweet tea and waited for my name to be called, which did not take long. My first impression of the food was A+ presentation however, a little bit small on the portion size compared to other places. First couple bites were without barbecue sauce and I noticed there was none on the table. There is a small BBQ sauce bar at the back of the dining room. Glad I noticed this as I wasn't told this originally. The turkey was good. A solid B. Good flavor, juicy, just lacking the smoke I expected. The brisket however was an D+. Unfortunately it was overcooked and dry. And I also received a large portion of fat which couldn't be eaten. I do not bake but the cornbread was missing whatever holds it together. It was a little dry and crumbly and the bottom was overdone. It had good flavor so I will give it a C. The chili was more meat than beans but lacked seasoning. I will give the chili a B-, easily fixed with some flavor. Overall B restaurant as it's a great little corner spot with wonderful ambiance and delightful service. I would definitely return, as maybe I just caught them...
Read moreI ordered using Uber Eats app First you can't order BBQ sauce cups with your ribs, you can't order BBQ sauce at all except by ordering chicken wings, it's just completely absent from Uber Eats app menu, I had to call the restaurant after placing my order to ask them to put some cups in my bags wich they gladly did.
Second they messed up one of my order, I asked for a hamburger with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, mayo and mustard and received a hamburgers with pulled pork, no condiments whatsoever, no lettuce, no tomatoes, no onions, no mayo or mustard. The hamburger was good anyway but not what I wanted. The beef patties were excellent, some of the best I've ever had.
Now for the rest of my order most items were OK and some were not that OK :
Chicken wings : not juicy at all, dry, no flavor. Ended up throwing them in the garbage.
Ribs : a lil bit dry on top, not that juicy overall
Mac'n'cheese : meh watery cheese sauce, overcooked pasta and not salty at all. You're supposed to cook pasta in mildly salty water no more than 8 minutes otherwise it become mushy.
Sausage : too salty, not tasty.
Corn fritters : ok
Brunswick stew: meh, tasted like canned soup with pulled pork
Peach cobbler : no cream or ice cream, no crunchy, very little amount of peaches, more like a bread pudding with some pieces of peaches
Banana pudding : I'm pretty sure there was melted marshmallow on the picture in the menu, there was none in what I received and it tasted like regular Jell-O pudding.
Bread pudding : not bad, I liked it.
Overall it was kind of a...
