I’m not a big fan of franchise coffee shops, but Starbucks just so happen to be conveniently located right off the 15 Fwy from Baseline and decided to hit up that spot last weekend to catch up with one of my best friends who I haven’t seen in 5-6 years. The reason why I’m actually writing this review is because of the barista who made my coffee. I didn’t get his name, but he was so entertaining to chat with as I was wondering which coffee to order that isn’t too sweet, but strong with a unique taste. He recommended the horchata. Shaken, not stirred (really!). I have no idea what it was the first time I heard it, and now it’s the best tasting coffee drink available at Starbucks, especially how this barista suggested to add a “cream cap” on top, I was like “okay, there’s always a first for everything, let’s do it!” I ended up really enjoying this drink, as the cream on top when drinking without the straw really does blend the two flavors nicely. Plus, oatmilk was used to make this drink, which tasted a lot better than regular milk that are typically used to make lattes.
Another remarkable thing about this barista, he came out to the outdoor patio to hand serve my coffee as I got carried away chatting with my best friend and forgot to pick up my order at the counter. Oops!! Conveniently, I asked him if he could take a pic of me and my buddy as he was already here with us, and he humorously did a selfie with himself inside. I am very thankful that he did so because I want any customers going to this Starbucks location to make sure he’s the one making your drink since he knows his coffee, he gives great recommendations, and he puts passion right back to work. Thank you, mister! I can’t stop thinking about this amazing horchata!!! I’ll be dropping by again before this limited-time drink...
Read moreBad management - This is perpetually one of the slowest Starbucks in the Rancho/Fontana area. They hire young, inexperienced, inefficient Baristas that can’t handle high volume surges. Generally a good manager can help speed up inefficiencies and help streamline processes: take your fastest barista off the register and move someone slower to the floor or directly to register to check out customers. The Baristas at this location often seem lost and overwhelmed, which screams inexperience. Venti Iced Green Tea shouldn’t take 25 minutes no matter how many upside down triple steamed pumpkin spice caramel macchiatos are en queue. I also know this location is bad because the drive through is consistently at a crawl. Generally if the wait inside is slow, the drive through is faster even if the line is long. Not the case at this location. If your commute is along the 15 headed south, I recommend 4th and The I-15, the i-15 and Jurupa street or if you’re feeling extremely adventurous, the 4th and Milliken locations. Always fast with excellent service. Day Creek and Baseline is also pretty bad but not nearly as bad as this prime location that’s one of the final stops “in civilization” as you head North towards Victor valley, Hesperia, or Vegas. Solution for this location? Move some more experienced baristas from other stores, and have them work closely with the younger staff there to improve turnaround times. This could be a 3 million dollar location if they could get their...
