I'm giving them 4 stars for Effort to make things right with our order. Went there with the family on a Sunday afternoon & at night.
Parking: Little hard to come by on Yew Street. It was later I noticed that there's an entrance off of 22nd Avenue also - maybe Parking is better there.
Location: Next door is a NAPA auto parts, across the street is the eastern end of the Rose Grove Mobile Home Community. The trailer is on a gravel lot, setup like a nice secure RV park. At the time of this posting there's only 3 trailers setup. A Bubble Tea place, a Blue Philly sandwich shop opening soon, and Min Min Thai. I think Zesti Carts is going to do well in this Forest Grove lot with their Huge Pavilion they are building...we'll see. Hopefully they attract more high quality vendors.
My Min Min Thai experience: For a family of 4 - 2 adults 2 kids we ordered: Tofu Salad Rolls w/ Peanut Sauce Tom Kha (Coconut Milk based) soup + Chicken Pad See Ew (Noodle dish) + Beef Massaman Curry (Dark Yellow/Orange inc. Potatoes, Carrots, and some Peanuts) + Chicken Spending close to $50 including tip
We waited about 15-20 minutes in our car... and the gentleman was nice enough to bring our order out to us. We drive home... and see what we got. We were disappointed unfortunately - when compared to Pac Thai takeout in Forest Grove.
Only 2 salad rolls for $6, 1 piece of Tofu, very little noodles...mostly salad. Peanut Sauce very oily, not as creamy as we like. The soup was a little more watery than we would like, and a little too sweet than we are used to versus a soup that's allowed to simmer for awhile. This was the bigger mistake. Mistake of no beef... Chicken instead. Also, the broccoli included just a few florets & more 'trunk' LATER @ NIGHT - they substituted for 2 orders of PotStickers which was nice...and my family enjoyed them very much. Very little peanuts in the Curry dish, and very little protein. Last criticisms - Chicken Thigh meat was used in most of the dishes... probably to save on cost. And the portions were small for $10/dish.
Call us snobby - but when eating out we'd like to have chicken breasts, broccoli florets, and large portions of noodles & rice. To be fair though, its a small kitchen in a trailer run by 2 people switching tasks from taking orders, cooking dishes, bagging them up, and handing them over with a heartfelt Thank You. I hope the business owner reads this and makes some changes that future customers would appreciate... I can only hope. God Bless & I wish this business & all others in this Food Pod...
Read moreSo before people go nuts. The food is delicious. The staff is polite. That is not the issue. It's an outside cart so I can't really judge the atmosphere of the "restaurant" but the atmosphere of the entire area of Zesty Carts lot is really nice.
I was shocked to find out Thai Iced Tea was $6.00! I don't ever recall paying that much at any Thai place I have ever been to. Anywhere.
Also the card reader asks for the customer service tip before it accepts your payment and the amount starts at 18% and the options go beyond 20%.
While this may be the new set up for certain systems it really sets a bad tone for customers. Especially those who pay cash only like I do and I always pay 20% but this time I didn't because it felt so forced. I pay a tip based on the service I receive, not pay ahead and hope I get good service.
I paid the 18% tip, asked to not have the tea, and got one curry to go. Well the curry is delicious but I unfortunately was lacking other ingredients inside. Kind of emoty.
Well rice usually fixes that...except the to go box of rice was only filled 1/4 of the way! So I paid for the food, 18% tip for a hand off meal, no waiting, no busser, no indoor seating, and didn't even have the full meal delivered! I'm glad the curry was filled up to the top but if you expect me to pay a tip before I even pay for the food then I should at the very least expect to actually get the food I paid for. Including the cheapest ingredient you...
Read moreI ordered the “Glass Noodles Pad Thai” . I had asked what the difference was from regular besides the noodles. The response was “One come with wide noodles and one comes with small clear noodles.” I took a chance cause i love glass noddles and i love pad thai. But it was mostly cabbage, and green bell peppers, which I have never had in Reg Pad Thai. It had a brown sauce more like See Eew dish, NO peanuts or basil garnish at all, a tiny sliver of lime and the egg was slimy. Also came with a bunch of black pepper on top, which I hate (but thats a personal preference) but again, pad thai usually doesn’t come with. The chicken was not bad but only a few pieces. Also we ordered potstickers… one was doughy and one was so burnt I had to...
