My boyfriend & I came in yesterday to enjoy what we THOUGHT would be a nice breakfast, however, we didn’t make it that far. As we walked in, nobody was at the front, BUT there was a sign on the hostess booth that said “Please Seat Yourself”. We waited a couple minutes & still nobody came.
By this time another couple walked in behind us & was confused as well. There was another couple that was already sitting at the front entrance on a bench but they were having a conversation & looking at something else. The couple behind us pointed out the “Please Be Seated” sign & even passed us menus so we took the menus & walked over to the only empty table in the restaurant.
As soon as we got to the table, a lady “hostess” comes out of nowhere & practically yells across the restaurant, “You can’t sit there. They were here first.” At first we thought she was talking about the couple that walked in behind us. They were looking just as confused as we were & they responded, “No we weren’t.”
As we walked back up to the front we realized she was talking about the people sitting on the bench. They never said anything to us about them being in line & they didn’t look like they were waiting in line.
My two problems here is that #1 there was no clarity of what to do once entering the restaurant… “please seat yourself” OR wait for the hostess to FINALLY acknowledge you’re waiting to be seated ????? & #2 the embarrassment from being yelled at across the room in front of everyone in the restaurant making it seem as if we’re TRYING to take someone’s table!!!
By this point I didn’t want to stay for breakfast while everyone stares at us! We left & went to First Watch-RH where someone greeted us as soon as we walked in the door (while they had more people in their restaurant & waiting in line). We only had a 5 minute wait for our table which was told to us in advance. The customer service was amazing & the food was delicious!!!
I don’t like leaving negative reviews but I felt so embarrassed after our experience...
Read moreOne hungry morning I slept through 6 alarm clocks and was nearly late for work. In a half awakened state I quickly grabbed clothes to wear, brushed my teeth and threw on a hat. Jumped in the car and realized I was working from home that day. I thought I’d muscle through on an empty stomach but that proved to be futile. The clouds in the sky broke open a glimmer of sunlight and suddenly the craving for gravy biscuits got me good. Too good. I seemed them. Demanded them. Then google, my long trusted guide, suggested Eggs Up Grill. They had it! They had the precious. Biscuits sliced down the middle and a courteous helping of succulent sausage gravy. So I then stood tall and proud, searched for my VISA card and submitted the order. Jumped in the car and headed there to obtain my newfound precious. Greeted by smiles, the cashier leaned in with excitement that this was my first time.
I arrived back home in elated. Within the styrofoam white box lay the biscuits and gravy. Then there they were. Steam hit me in the face and the moisture set a tear in my eye. They were gorgeous, crispy but not hard. Moist and begging me to begin. The gravy shouted from beneath the lid, demanding a righteous pour. And pour I did. All over the biscuits. Blanketing them in a cocoon of saucy deliciousness.
Then I forked one right in the heart and eagerly shoved it in my mouth. The birds stopped chirping. The clouds vacated the sky. Time had stopped. I’d reached heaven. Glory you...
Read more10/10 Experience! From the moment we walked into Egg Up Grill in Fort Mill, we were greeted warmly and seated right away. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming—such a great vibe for a family breakfast spot.
I ordered the steak omelet with cheese grits (so good!), my daughter got the cheese omelet with potatoes, and for my son—who is an extremely picky eater—I took a chance and ordered the kids pancakes with turkey bacon. I wasn’t even sure he’d try it, but when the food came out (which looked amazing, by the way), he dove right in! I looked over and was shocked—his plate was almost clean, and he looked at me and said, “Mommy, this place is the best in town.” This is coming from a kid who usually just eats fries everywhere we go!
To top it off, on the way home from school that Monday, he asked, “Mommy, can we go back to that restaurant right now?” I told him not today—they close at 2—but we’ll definitely be back soon.
Egg Up Grill has officially won us over. Thank you for the incredible service and delicious food. You’ve gained a loyal family of customers. Keep up the...
