The amount of disappointment I faced with going to this restaurant is out of this world. If I could give zero stars I would. I had high exceptions because of the reviews but the disappointment was real. Everything was fine when we walked in. Some of the tables were dirty but we brushed it aside even though that should have been the first sign. We ordered our food and everything was going semi-great. I got maduros that weren't even maduros. They tasted like smushy tostones. But we didn't say anything and let it be. Then as I was eating my food (which was cold) yet once again I didn't say anything I found a black hair in my beans. I respectfully told the lady serving us and told her it's fine I just don't want the beans anymore. Well the owner decided to come out and call me a liar saying it was the dish that had black stripes when the hair was clearly floating in the middle. She then continued to fight me on what I saw (which I have no reason to lie). She then grabbed the spoon off of my moms plate and started stirring the beans saying there's no hair (even though I saw it) and then placed the spoon back on the plate my mom was eating. It was highly unprofessional and flabbergasting. Then after she continued to argue there wasn't a hair, she grabbed the bowl in which the beans were in and slammed it in the trash. My family and I decided we had received enough disrespect so we left all our untouched food (still paid, which in hindsight we shouldn't have) and left. If things were handled better and professionalism was used this whole problem could have been avoided. I have no reason to lie or complain and I let a lot of things slide. We were going to leave it as is and forget about the hair until she decided to call me a liar and blow things out of proportions. There wasn't an issue until she made it an issue and couldn't own up to the mistake. I wasn't asking for anything free or complaining just to complain. I was just making her aware of the situation and was ready to go on with my day until she called me a liar multiple times, telling me I was seeing wrong. Don't be fooled by the good reviews, this place isn't worth going to if they can't own up to their own mistakes or have great customer...
Read moreMy parents & I tried this “Dominican” spot for lunch. We were in the mood for some mofongo, sancocho, pernil however, everything tasted South American. My father mentioned to the Cuban waitress (seemed nice) that the sancocho was not cooked Dominicans style. I’m guessing she went back to the “Dominican” cook and said something. The other waitress didn’t know what “con con” was. As we checked out, we split the bill which seemed to be an issue for them, & the cook actually started “arguing” with my Dominican father about how the sancocho was cooked. Now my father handled it as diplomatically as he always does because he’s a GENTLEMAN nevertheless, as we were all walking out, she continued to talk to the next couple checking out about how my father didn’t know what he was talking about. HOW DARE SHE!?!?! The WORST customer service ever! At this point my mother & I started to intervene but it was the WORSE EXPERIENCE, WORST FOOD, & WORST DOMINICAN restaurant ever! I WARN anyone and everyone, don’t go here as you will be GREATLY...
Read moreWe were in the area to try this food truck that relocated in this area, but it wasn’t open. So we searched for someplace to eat nearby, and came upon this place. The outside wasn’t very appealing, trash in the parking lot and sign looked old and falling apart. But we saw some good reviews, so we continued in. We saw they had a prepared food counter with hot food. But it didn’t look that appealing. We asked the lady behind the counter what was being served, but she couldn’t speak English. She called over a gentleman and very briefly told us what it was, and they have fried chicken coming out soon. We told him we’ll try that, chicken sandwich and some empanadas. It took close to 30 minutes to get our food. I wouldn’t recommend it. The chicken was overcooked and lots of bones. Furthermore, it was small pieces, but the rice and beans were delicious. Empanadas were ok, but weren’t fresh. And the chicken sandwich was decent. But we didn’t think it was worth $45, for...
