Visited the Fort Myers Skatium today (13/10/23), on a vacation from the UK. Couldn't have been happier with this place. I really hope the local city use this to their advantage because I would've loved to have a recreational area to do Ice and Roller hockey when I was a kid, coming from an ice hockey background and having to pay £15-£20 per session (EXCLUDING skate hire) 5-6 days a week before playing for the team.
Ice was fantastic, especially compared to what I've been used to in my hometown back in the UK. Staff couldn't have been more accommodating, skate hire for $2 is so so good given the quality of skates available for such a low fee. Had conversations with lots of people in the rink whilst I was there including the a few guys from the local team, all were real nice people as I've always come to find with hockey players.
Anyone looking to get into Ice Hockey or Roller Hockey then do NOT miss this place out. Place of my dreams as a kid to have somewhere like this to train. Will keep this place in my head for my return visits...
Read moreThe skatium was great, it had an arcade, pro shop, blade sharpening station, and lockers. The skates there have been worn by half of the global population... I have my own skates though, so that wasn't a problem. Make sure to bring two quarters if you want to rent a locker, and they also don't have half sizes on skates. When you first enter the rink, there will usually be a small crowd waiting to get in, people talking to the skaters, and parents recording their kid(s) falling or actually skating. There is also some walkers, sort of like baby walkers to help you skate on ice if you don't know how to skate well. I personally go here every weekend, there is a discount on Saturdays that 5$ per person, and the general admission is 8$. Skate rental is 2$. There is no public skating on Sundays normally, The skating days are Friday and Saturday. ( I don't know if this will change; if it does I will most likely edit this review )
The skatium has been renewed!

Read moreI called them and asked prior to arriving if they had a roller rink. The man on the phone just said “yes.” The appropriate response should’ve been “yes, but it is not open to the public.” My friends and I drove from Arcadia Fl (so roughly 58 minutes) only to walk in WITH our roller blades and be told that skating started at 7. We sat down and waited (at this point they STILL hadn’t said anything to us yet.) I finally asked if public skating for both roller skating at ice skating started at 7 or if it was just ice skating. THEN AND ONLY THEN is when the man behind the counter decided to tell us that they don’t do public roller skating. So we wasted an HOUR of our time and gas money to come down here under the impression that they provided roller skating. The information provided on the phone was lacking in some pretty IMPORTANT details. So if you call and you ask if they provide roller skating and they say yes DON’T WASTE YOUR SATURDAY EVENING THE WAY...
