Hog Heaven Barbecue — Restaurant in Fort Oglethorpe

My husband went to pick up an order to go for our lunch today. When he got back he told me that he had to pay extra for hot sauce because it was a to go order. If we had had lunch there we wouldn't have been charged extra for the hot sauce.

I took a bite of my beef BBQ and couldn't even bite all the way through the beef it was so tough. I opened up the sandwich and it was full of huge strips of over cooked beef that I literally had to pull apart with my fingers. I barely managed to eat half of it and I threw the rest of it away. It was simply too tough to eat.

My husband called them to let them know the sandwich had ended up being thrown away. The manager tried to make excuses instead of offering an apology. I took the phone from my husband and told her that being in the food service business for over 20 years that when a customer calls to complain, you don't make excuses. You apologize.

I will NEVER go back to this business. There are much better places...

I ate there a few years back and consider it average. I recently thought I would give it another try. I was looking for something different. I do like that they have a large variety on their menu of different things. I know how hard that is to offer in restaurant business. The first time, I ate there was inside and the second time was drive thru. In this competitive business their menu, prices and signs needs to be up to date people want to know what they're paying for and item and want to exit thru a drive thru ASAP. A little cleaning around the area would help attract more customers as well. Over all quality of the food I would consider average but over priced in comparison to others business with of that type. I wouldn't care to pay a little more if I felt it was over the top in taste...

I really hate giving any local BBQ spot a less-than-awesome review, but the sandwich I got was a disappointment. The BBQ itself is very sweet and though I got both hot and mild sauce on it, it is incredibly mild. I'm eating as I'm writing this and can't really get over how sweet the sauce is. They're not serving mac-n-cheese or green beans at the moment because they're understaffed unfortunately. I hope they find some good folks to hire soon, but I'll likely not be back as there are too many other BBQ joints with flavors that I...
