Stumbled across this place on accident and am SO glad we did — every single thing we ordered was delicious. The app sampler came with 3 dipping sauces, all made in-house, and i couldn’t decide which one I liked best. They were all super tasty, and they each went well with all the different apps (except the gyoza which I only tried with the black soy) which was nice. Our meals included complimentary clear soup, which was shockingly good for something that seems so simple - the flavor was rich and had a great depth to it. The crab rangoon was the best I have had in Ft Wayne and among the best overall. It had plenty of filling, and the outside was crispy to absolute perfection. They had a really good selection of specialty sushi rolls, it was hard to choose but I went with the Fujiyama roll, and loved it. My daughter had the bulgogi; the portion size was impressive, the beef was so tender and the flavor was perfect. I was too busy devouring the food to get many pictures but the plating and presentation of everything was really nice too. We finished with the lava cake, which was beautifully plated, rich and decadent. There was a lot that we wanted to try, and we were celebrating so we went all out with apps and dessert, but even with all that the prices were very reasonable and the menu is has good variation. It’s not huge inside but has a nice ambiance and a little pond full of adorable koi by the entrance. Service was so friendly and attentive, and they give you those delightful little hard-to-find guava candies at the end ingredients are good quality and everything is made in house so it’s a great place when you want to impress someone or are celebrating but would also be good for a more casual/affordable outing -you could easily keep it under $15/person and still be satisfied with a delicious meal. I’m always looking for good local spots and this one is definitely going into my permanent rotation. The location in Glenbrook Square can make it easy to miss but this place is worth seeking out, truly a hidden...
Read moreFirst time here and I was sadly not impressed. The waitress sat our party of 5 (all adults) at 2 pressed together tablels. My family was at one table, our friends at the other. I order the house Sake and it was flavorless, not horrible. The appetizers came out and they were pretty average and i'm not complaining about that. Everyone's meals came out twenty five minutes before mine. I know I ordered a little bit more than my friends but I sat there waiting for my food as I watched everyone finish theirs. The lobster roll is what put the delay on my order. I might have been okay with them bringing half of my food because the lobster roll was gonna take longer to make. My sister picked this place and she raved really highly about it. She absolutely loves the food. And then the bill came. We already stated that the three of us would be together once we sat down. Each of the 3 bills had a "Large Party" fee on them of 20%. I am extremely upset about this because I don't want somebody telling me how much I should be tipping on my party at three just because two other people sat at a table that was pressed against ours. Usually a large party of six or more and this was lunch time. I don't like got about 5 bites in before we had to box everything up because my family was finished eating. Before I was even finished emptying out the plates that I wanted, she was already taking away food on dishware. I would consider this the worst sushi place in town. Maybe a dinner service would be better but you can't tell me that the experience improves when the...
Read moreWe had a great time at Miyabi. I am always happy to find another place in town where I would return to eat sushi. Miyabi has a great selection of Maki and chef special rolls. They have other items on the menu including hibachi which to to of us prefer over sushi.
We ordered the spring rolls as an appetizer. They were excellent and the sauce that was provided to dip them in was amazing. I was using a liberal amount of the sauce on each bite. Soup came with everything that we ordered. It appeared to be the clear soup made with various broths. It included bacon and some vegetables. I thought it was excellent.
For the sushi rolls we ordered the yummy roll and the super rainbow roll. We loved both of them. I'm a sucker for the deep fried roll and you can't go wrong with cream cheese inside. The presentation was amazing as well. Especially for the super rainbow roll. I like all the different fish on top of the roll and it was presented excellently.
In our group two of us ordered the hibachi and found it to be mid. There are other locations in town where we feel the hibachi was done much better. Seems like the quality of the steak that was prepared in the two dishes was less than we expected and have received at other Japanese restaurants in town.
Overall, I find Miyabi an excellent place to get sushi and appetizers and possibly some other items and I recommend that you give it a try and find something that you love here. Those of us in the group that lean toward hibachi will probably choose to not order that again at...
