I'm a bowler and have taken small groups to both Georgetown as well as Pro Bowl West. My experience with Gtown was pretty miserable as a group leader. This makes me sad considering I grew up going here and used to love it. Their rates ($8 hour for bowling/person includes shoe rentals and a 15 minute arcade card) are really a bait-and-switch versus being a good deal. They start your hour before you even get your shoes on or grab your ball. With 5 people on the lane of varying experience level, you likely need a bit more than an hour to finish the one game. Or at least more than the 50 minutes they end up giving you by the time you're ready to bowl. If you don't finish your game within that time, they shut down your lane and give it to the next paying customer in line. This makes for a very rushed and anxious experience. We asked for more time to at least finish our one game and they obliged but gave us a hard time about it. This was complicated by the fact that their pinsetter and scorekeeper malfunctioned many times during our "hour" resulting in having to wait or manually fix the score on the computer often. The arcade card is okay but the 15 minutes start from first use and counts down from there. So if you played a game, took a 10 minute bathroom break or food break, then came back, you'd find you have only 5 minutes left on the card. Most of their arcade requires attendants and it is a coin flip as to whether it is even staffed with the COVID environment so we missed out on a lot that they offer. I had kids with me and while we made the best of it, we all agreed we'd never go back.
Pro Bowl West charges $3 per game and $3 for shoe rentals on Sunday afternoons. Meaning for $9 per person, you get 2 full games plus rentals and no rush. They also have delicious pizza if you are into that. They have an arcade but you just have to use coins. If you're there for the bowling, PBW is a much more relaxed and...
Read moreI had heard only negative thing about this place so I decided to check it out for myself. The food was ok and the beer was good. I would not recommend getting shots here because they were awful. The balls were like crazy pins where they only have even numbers and only really small or big finger wholes. The lanes where ok, which I would have expected better for how much they charge you. They only do by the hour, which I personally like to pay by the game especially since they had so much problems with the balls getting stuck which then we had to wait for them to fix it. The worst part was the service. The workers were rub and not helpful at all when we asked questions. We also waited over 2 hours just to get a lane even though they had 5 lanes not being used but they were "reserved" which 3 of them never did get used during our whole time there. Also the workers said it would only be 30 mins and throughout our wait they kept saying "you guys are nexted." On the screen they have for the waiting list our names where number two on the list for over an hour. We also had another group of friends who came in after us without reservations and they got a lane before us. I feel like the workers kept letting families and underage kids (like our friends) get lanes before us because we were drinking in the bar waiting. I even complained to the workers and they did not even appoligize. They just said "we were not expecting it to be this way" and that they did not check the reservation book because most people dont show up for their reservation. Then they hinted towards that we should have planned a head and made reservations. I use to go there all the time when I was a kid and it was never busy, how would I know. It did not even look busy when we werw waiting. If we knew it would be such a long wait we would have left. I will never go...
Read moreThe concession food was fairly good compared to most places I've eaten at, albeit their Mountain Dew tasted a little sour (like it might be close to expiring), but I expect that from a place that normally serves bar drinks. Then even fixed it when asked.
The concession area serves alcohol. So, if that is your thing, know they have some nice drink variety.
Arcade has a play by hour price which is surprisingly inexpensive, and they have a cute little ticket redemption store with a sliding garage door. It was very welcoming. The carpet to the arcade room as quite poorly kept. However, there were quite a few children there, so that can be forgiven.
The private party room has its own separate bowling lanes which was a nice plus. Bowling lanes are charge by hour instead of by game, which is great, especially for people who pay quickly. A couple hours can get even 4-5 games for 2 people. 25 dollars per hour per lane (not per person), 3 dollars for shoe rental (per person).
All in, nice place to hang out if you...
