June 2024 update: was not impressed with the buffalo chicken salad. Wilted lettuce. Good service at bar though.

Feb 21 2024: update, stopped in to give it second try. Had overlooked grilled shrimp which includes a side as a healthy order. Tasty dish, better $ deal, more calories with oil for grilling but tastes good. Service at bar excellent. Had 1 draft craft beer. Increase from 3 to 4 stars. Will come back again to try fried fish or salad. Out the door with tip about $20. Still had that "hometown" vibe and saw owner/cook mingling with patrons which made me feel good.

Early Feb 2024: Not sure what all the great reviews are all about. Was just your typical deep fried American grill. I had a hard time finding anything "fresh" and healthy, not fried or frozen on the menu. People at bar, owner, waitresses & bartender were super friendly and mixed drinks were good but food menu choices was just meh. Had cold shrimp appetizer, sauteed collard greens side dish with parmesan cheese (the cheese a topping option for salads) and a side salad with avocado. It might sound healthy but I had to work hard to extract that...

I have been to this place a few times for lunch, and have had good experiences. However, I went there for dinner recently with my wife and was so upset with the service we had that I felt compelled to write a review.

We were meeting up with some friends, and my wife and I are currently trying to get pregnant - so when I went to order us drinks, I asked the bartender for a glass of cranberry juice on ice for my wife. The bartender asked me if I was in need of a "mommy mocktail". All that was fine, and she made a good drink that my wife did enjoy. However, when she went to give the drink to my wife she used NO DISCRETION at ALL! She was asking my wife if she liked her "mommy mocktail" loud enough for our entire group of friends to hear, as well as everyone around us at the bar. Who does that?!? The entire point of my request was for us to be discreet about our personal situation. To make things worse, she then told my wife to "come back in after you get that parasite out of you, and we'll put gin in it". She was totally inappropriate with her comments, and how she handled...

Morgan's is a real gem, the area is truly fortunate to have this rockin Tavern.

I live closer to the local saloon and Roanoke but prefer the family run vibe at Morgan's.

Besides the food at Morgan's is better, seriously without question the best breaded tenderloin I've ever had. Their house made sauces kill it. Horseradish sauce & onions and I was in heaven with their thicc double cut goodness. Looking forward to coming back for a fish dinner, breakfast burger, or just regular burger.

Update 1 week later: got the fish dinner, dry and not on par with the breaded tenderloin, I'll stick with the tenderloin πŸ˜‚. The jalapeno tartar sauce is hella good and went killer on my fries.

Service so far has been great, I'm still down to try a smash burger or maybe one of their weekly rotating...

We started with the breaded mushrooms, and they were absolutely amazing. crispy on the outside, perfectly seasoned, and full of flavor. I could have made a whole meal out of them alone. For the mains, I had the Black Snake burger, which was pretty good. My husband went with the B.Y.O.B. burger and said he really enjoyed it. My grandma ordered the breaded shrimp, and when she let us try some, we were blown away by how phenomenal they were. The quality of the breading across the board really stood out. Definitely getting their shrimp next time. πŸ‘πŸΌ Also- the she-shed is full of donkeys, pretty jazzy πŸ‘πŸΌ

Went there on a suggestion from friends. Glad we tried it. They have about 10 beers on tap, several I recognized from local breweries. Everyone was raving about their tenderloin sandwich so we had to have one, along with our waitresses suggestion of the fried mushrooms. Wow, that tenderloin was very good! I would get that again in a heartbeat. The mushrooms were excellent, also, but our onion rings were just ok. Next time I'll try their homemade fries - I hear they are very good too. 4.5 stars - we'll be back!

Our first visit to Morgan's Tap & Grill was impressive, with tasty elevated bar food and excellent service, we left with full bellies AND money left in our wallet 🀣 I tried a weekly feature - the untidy Joseph grilled cheese with fries. My husband had a Hoosier staple, the hand cut & hand breaded tenderloin with coleslaw, and we shared hand-breaded mushrooms. Add in two long necks and our wallet didn't even feel the blow! $38 before tip for an appetizer, two meals, and two beers. You really can't beat it.
