We ate brunch at Spoke and Ivy on Sunday. The creative food and drinks were delicious and the service was excellent! However the noise level was extremely loud, due to the high ceiling and lack of acoustics to absorb the sound. On a Sunday, only the Bistro Brunch menu is available. Next time we make reservations, we will request a table in the smaller dining area behind the check in desk. We started with drinks of a refreshing East Side Baddie, an old fashioned, an expresso martini, and a vanilla raspberry latte. For appetizers, we ordered a fresh half Ivy salad, the interesting potato latke, and the stuffed mushrooms. Again, all were delicious! All were very good! For entrees, we ordered the steak & egg with potatoes & asparagus, and shrimp (3 jumbo) & grits. I would have liked three times as much grits in the dish, but the marinara sauce and fresh pesto were a creative touch! No bread basket is served with the meal, which would have been nice to scoop up the rest of the delicious marinara sauce in both the stuffed mushrooms and the shrimp & grits. For desserts, we ordered the tender beignets, the gigantic cinnamon roll, and the chai Terimisu. All 3 were excellent, and certainly big enough for two to share! There was a line at the restrooms because it is just 2 single-stall unisex restrooms. One recommendation I have would be to install pull-down blinds on the large windows facing the street because during midday the sun was shining right in our eyes with our chairs facing the windows. This restaurant is definitely one that I would return to for another delicious meal!

Upon entering, you are immediately aware that lighting and decor were a priority as everyone looks great in photos. Service is exceptional and timing of food was as one would desire. The potato latke was a favorite with the grilled onions adding flavor and the crunch from the celery. The Milanese chicken was crisp on the outside and moist in the inside. Crunch and flavor worked with the included salad. Cinnamon roll is perfect if you like less soft rolls. The icing was a bit much. We agreed to order it with icing on side if we order again. Paprika potatoes had a nice aioli, but we all agreed we would not order again as there were so many other things that wowed. Shrimp & Grits have perfectly charred shrimp. We ordered with the vodka sauce on the side and 1/3 of the pesto the second time around as it is very powerful. Love the dish. The ratatouille lasagna with a side salad was a fav. Veggies with creamy béchamel sauce. Crepe was yummy, but we agreed it was more of a dessert or brunch item that main entree. If you like chai, the chai tiramisu is for you. The Spoke cake is dense and flavorful. The Affogato ice cream was my favorite. Espresso over ice cream! We toured the Speakeasy downstairs. Seats 45, no reservations needed, separate bar menu and open Friday and Saturday 6-12 PM. Definitely a revisit.

I went to Spoke + Ivy for brunch with one of my friends last week. From the moment I walked in and was greeted by the hostess, I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed. The restaurant itself has an industrial exterior, which gives way tot he surprise of an interior that gives ethereally modern, mixed a lofty vibe. Now let’s get to the food: I know some people would choke at the mere thought of $25 for shrimp and grits, but HOLD ON - what if I told you that it was definitely worth the $25? The dish mixes pesto and vodka sauce in what I would typically consider a felony, but it was absolutely delicious. And the SHRIMP…? Perfectly seasoned and so tasty. Now the cocktail: I ordered a “Praise the Sun.” And this drink was definitely worth praising. Rum is my preferred alcohol in a drink (I promise, I’m not an alcoholic), and it perfectly meshed with the citrusy flavors in the drink. It’s safe to say that I will definitely return to Spoke + Ivy. I’d recommend Zion or Esther to be your servers, they’re the best! Psssst… there’s also a speakeasy downstairs that opens in the evening. You didn’t hear it from me.

I had really high hopes for this place. Moving from the Indy food scene to here four years ago, we could tell that finer dining options were limited in the FW area. Leading up to their opening, their social media made it seem like a place we’d really enjoy- Elevate cocktails, unique entree options, cozy/modern atmosphere. We came in on a Wednesday evening and it was maybe half full but incredibly loud near the bar. We asked to be seated in the empty area around the corner which was much more conducive for our part of 4 to have conversation. Service was quite slow from the get-go. We enjoyed the focaccia, but the tuna was lack-luster. When it came to ordering entrees the server was helpful in letting us know which options would be best suited with a protein if they did not come with one. One of our group members ordered the Milanese which was wonderful! The shrimp and grits were tasty, but nothing to write home about. My husband and I both ordered the tagliatelle (one with shrimp and one with the chicken)- the pasta was way under cooked (gummy) and the entire dish needed to be seasoned with a much heavier hand. It was boring. Tasteless. Leek, fennel, and grapefruit are the flavors that drew me to ordering this dish and I was disappointed with the presentation. Maybe they’re more on their A-game on weekends, but I would expect consistent quality for the price. Overall, I don’t think we’ll be back for dinner after being let down by...

Came to IN. to do some shopping and decided to grab a bite to eat. So to Google Maps we go and it is the same old restaurants appearing, until we come across Spoke + Ivy. Okay, here is something new...and off we go through several connecting neighborhoods that made us question our decision of picking it. However, as soon as we turned the corner and I saw the outside I had to go in. Black building with an inviting industrial look to it had me curious. Step inside and what a delight! Eclectic and modern with so many cute additions! We had a wonderfully personable server named Bethany (that usually bartends, she told us). Our timing put us at brunch and although my husband was wanting their caesar salad that is not on the brunch menu, Bethany said, no problem and made it happen. I ordered the biscuits & gravy with a side of the paprika potatoes. Everything was really good, but I have to point out that the biscuits were very fresh and the star of my dish. My husband had a gin & tonic and I ordered a Spoke Spritz. We both loved our drinks and I ended up ordering a gin & tonic because it was that good. Bethany said it they use a Japanese gin with mandarin notes. We plan to come back here again when we make another trip to try some of their other menu choices. We recommend you give this restaurant a shot, despite the out of the way location, you will not be...
