I had never been here before and read some good reviews online so I invited some friends to join me for Margarita Day. Their social channels advertised $2.50 margaritas. They were a smaller glass so I opted for a regular margarita. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised it was a nice sized mug, I asked the price because I was surprised at the size and was quoted $4.50. As our food comes out, mine was dropped on the floor in the bar area. I assumed it was mine and figured they were making another meal but the waiter nor did anyone in the restaurant come to apologize or inform me that it would take longer to prepare, had I not noticed I could've sat there waiting for a basic enchilada plate. I had never been here so didn't expect to wait another 30-40 minutes for my meal to be remade. I appreciate fresh food, but basic customer service is being open and honest with the customer. I could've said something, but I was waiting for the staff to acknowledge the situation. Don't ever "assume" the customer knows what's going on. At this point, i'm about ready to leave because i'd been at the restaurant for over an hour and a half and still hadn't been served a meal while my friends were finished with theirs. When my food finally arrived at least an hour after I ordered, it was good, no real complaints there. Later on we get our bill and my drinks were charged $5.50. I mentioned how I was told they were $4.50 and the response was "yeah, I got it wrong." I expected "I apologize for the confusion, i'll correct it for you." When I arrived I asked how much the margaritas were, I was told $4.50, so I expect to pay $4.50. Yes you may get it wrong but still you told the customer a price, that's the price they expect to pay, no questions asked. I could've even find the price in a menu. Then the new bill arrives, and I was charged an even higher price for that margarita, but got one waived. At least one was taken off but it took 20 minutes for that bill to be corrected and we had to ask the waiter again "where is our bill" to get it. I was excited to come here and more excited to bring my friends. It sounded promising but after my experience, I was sorely disappointed. Simple customer service was not a priority here. Maybe they were understaffed that night, but transparency is important. If you're understaffed, let the customer know in advance and they'll understand. I walked out without leaving a tip because it wasn't deserved, i've never done that in my life. 20% is typically my minimum because I know how hard wait staff work at these restaurants but I didn't feel my business was wanted here. As a result, I won't be coming back and I won't be recommending this restaurant to friends coming to Fort Worth. I hate writing negative reviews but this one needs to be told. I'm really sad they didn't make an attempt to make it better or apologize...
Read moreOMG!!!!!! This GEM of a restaurant is so charming and special. My family stumbled upon this restaurant that is somewhat unassuming as it’s a house! BUT, this house is the house where this family was raised with such great memories, including feeding drifters decades ago. Now, they’ve transformed this house into a restaurant and they feed patrons of Fort Worth and surrounding areas. Another family just stopped in, visiting from Dallas. The atmosphere is so loving, welcoming and fresh. With a full bar, plentiful seating indoors, and a gorgeous patio and backyard perfect for weddings, Quinceaneras and corporate events, or just hanging out on a nice summer afternoon outdoors, you will NOT be disappointed. Linda, one of the owners, is so humble and proud of Tia’s. Its rich history and welcoming doors will pull you in immediately, along with familial customer service and a genuine joy for your presence! The food was incredible! We had tacos, chicken enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, loaded queso, a sangria swirl margarita and cerveza. Our food was delicious, the presentation was wonderful, attentive service was provided and we didn’t have to wait or ask for anything-their staff was on point! Please stop by to enjoy family, friends, food, good people, a pleasant vibe and environment. The grounds are extremely well kept and I can’t wait to come back when it’s hotter and enjoy some patio action. I would highly recommend this restaurant-you’re in for some history, kindness, a delicious menu and a lovely experience! 10 out of...
Read moreThe Sotelo organization was the Sopranos of north Fort Worth, unloading “keys” of cocaine in the ’80s and early ’90s when crack infested Dallas and Fort Worth. Federal, state and local law enforcement agents spent a year in ’93 and ’94 investigating the organization and identified several key players. But it was Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agent William Travis who brought the organization down in January 1995 shortly before he was forced out of the agency. It’s a takedown that still weighs heavily on the family’s mind more than 20 years later as they gather to discuss Edward “Eddie” Sotelo and his brother “Baby” Joe Sotelo Jr., both serving life sentences in federal prison.
Patricia 'Patsy' Ann Sotelo Villarreal is the owner of Tia's on the Bluff; her sister Linda also works at the restaurant. They are hoping to bring their brothers home from jail.
“My brothers want to come out,” says Patricia "Patsy" Ann Sotelo Villarreal, the owner of Tia’s on the Bluff.
Patsy, 60, persuaded her mother, Mary, about a year ago to allow her to turn their family home on East Bluff Street into a Mexican restaurant.
Nice place but service was terrible! They need more experienced waitresses. You should not have one waitress on a party of 30. Drinks took forever! Management was rude and inconsiderate even after being aware of the terrible service she and her team provided. The food was good although a lil pricy for the size and portion they give you. I can go to Rosa's Cafe get better sevice and more food...
