Friday, May 31: It was our first visit and first impressions are very lasting. We decided to meet up for our monthly book club at Saddlerock, overall a great choice! It started great with Tay greeting us when we arrived.
We initially reserved the tasting room at 6pm. Tay was super nice and accommodating. I arrived 15 minutes early and Tay showed me around and after seeing how the set up was I asked if we could meet in the Carriage House. Tay said that would be fine and she explained that space is normally reserved with a deposit but since there were no reservations we were welcome to meet there. Moments later another staff member brought over reserved signs for us to sit in that area.
We began meeting and enjoying the taco food truck (great food by the way). I ordered the Pineapple Cider beer and many of us ordered the various flights and enjoyed them all.
After being there a little over two hours I asked one of the staff members if they could turn off the music just in the Carriage House and she immediately said yes that she could. As I was walking away another staff member who wore a headset and overalls asked the staff member what I was wanting turned off and she told her.
Minutes later the staff member with the headset and overalls on came over to tell us that the space where we had been for the past two hours was actually open to the public and would require a deposit for a reservation and she mentioned that they had the tasting room reserved for us if we wanted to move back to that area.
She said that one of their bartenders must’ve misspoke, inferring that Tay gave us the wrong info. So I told her that we were aware that the space required a deposit to reserve but Tay said that since no one had it reserved we were welcome to sit and meet there. I didn’t ask her to move our reservation, but afterwards another staff member, not Tay, but another staff member brought over the two reserved signs and placed them strategically in the room. So I think Tay never misspoke but provided very accurate information.
I think the young lady in the overalls and the earpiece misspoke by assuming we were not told the space required a deposit to reserve.
I didn’t particularly like the way she addressed us nor the way she assumed that Tay misinformed us because she actually didn’t. I didn’t ask for the reserved signs but they brought them over in the space for us but then came over to address us as though we had done something wrong after we’d been there for two hours buying food and drinks. Before leaving us, the lady in the overalls did offer to lower the volume of the music.
I was a bit put off by how she addressed our group so that’s why 4 stars for service instead of 5. Tay definitely was providing 5 star service along with many of the other staff members, but the lady in the overalls addressed us with a disposition that definitely warranted deducting a star.
Other than her, the establishment was beautiful. Awesome views of the city. Definitely a gem for Ft Worth. The wines and beer were great and the atmosphere was awesome. And even more gorgeous at night.
I didn’t let that incident deter me returning in the future, I would suggest being mindful of how you address customers so as to not come across in a chastising manner and be careful not to make any...
Read moreUpdate: At Saddlerock, thank you for reaching out, well that is the name she gave me when i asked for it. Simple to know who it is though, it was the only thin, young 20-something female with long brown hair working the rear bar on 10/3 in the evening.
I was loving this place until i found out that Sally and her coworker are likely racist and completely insensitive.
I was standing in line for quite a while waiting on the single bartender to serve just two men. She was having trouble finding everything. As she was trying to serve them, i guess she called for help. Right as the guy came to help her a few blonde ladies got in line and he served them INSTEAD of asking who was here first or Sally telling him i had been waiting a while. At this point 15mins.
He serves those ladies and then he immediately heads back inside. Sally then screws up “Kevins” order and charges him $71 for one glass of wine and takes up more time.
By this time my friend said two rounds of trivia have passed.
I finally ask Sally, hey why did that guy go serve those girls if ive been in line for a while. And she responds back with: “he was only here to help me.”
But when she realizes that she can’t fix the tab, she calls the guy back. He comes back and then she asks me what I need. So she moved to different register and starts getting my order. I asked her “hey maybe you can tell him that next time he comes to help you if he can ask who’s here first so that he can serve the person that’s been waiting the longest first and she responded with, “It’s not that serious” Are you serious??
That was really messed up. She’s clearly very young and inexperience. But the right response would have been just to say “yeah I’m sorry I’ll let him know.” That’s all she had to say to make me feel better but instead she chose to make it as if its my fault to be displeased i was waiting over 20mins to be served. As if I did something wrong. It is completely wrong to serve the blondes in line ahead of me just because he notices them first and not me (even though he had to pass me on his way to them.)
She then serves my drinks and I told her I guess I won’t be tipping since it’s not that serious I just gotta let you know that my friend has been sitting by herself and I just missed two rounds and she responds “oh well. Good luck with trivia. Go have fun with your trivia night” in a super condescending voice. I don’t understand why she had to go so far as to be such a jerk, but it was not necessary. Clearly, I’m the one standing in line. I’m not at work. She is. Im here to have a relaxing night. All she had to do was simply apologize or at least sympathize. she’s not the one that did anything wrong. It was the guy that did. She took it extremely personal and failed to put herself in the customers shoes. Her responses was not necessary and she needs a lot of growing up to do.
I was really liking this place but it was evident with all the white people and lack of color, and serving the white ladies first, this establishment has some challenges...
Read moreWanted to try this place for a long time but I was heavily disappointed. The dark hair waitress working on Friday the 8th should consider getting a job that isn’t customer service. Me and my friend didn’t get a single “hello” or “welcome in” meanwhile everyone else before and after us did. We were not acknowledged at all. After looking at the menu waiting for someone to help(only one person in front of us ordering and three workers), the dark hair waitress (heavier side) rudely asks “can I see your ID.” Mind you these were the first words out of anyone’s mouths. A simple “hi how are you, what can I help you with” before aggressively asking a question would be nice. This worker didn’t even take our order as I believe she was only the busgirl. Me and my friend are 25 and don’t look underage at all. We were so shocked that no one else got their ID checked who actually did look underage. Ultimately we chose to only get one flight and leave as soon as possible to a wine bar nearby. On top of that, there was a private event that was not posted on the website or instagram to alert people. The backyard is the main attraction of this place. Overall terrible customer service with inexperienced women. It was not busy at all for a Friday evening. Wonder if the terrible customer service has something to do with it..Won’t be recommending. A TikTok video will be...
