Outstanding food quality but lackluster service. We had dirty plates in front of us and seldom water refills.
Saturday night, 7pm ish. We were offered a seat on the patio, but the heater wouldn’t work so they moved us to the sushi bar. They were friendly and accommodating for that process. We didn’t have to wait long, even though the restaurant was pretty full.
The prices were on par with, or just slightly higher than pretty much any higher end sushi bar.
The Omakase sashimi for $105 was delicious. It had lots of very fresh and unique options in there. I would say this is definitely a place to come for the nigiri or the sashimi rather than the rolls. This place leans more towards authentic side for sure.
A hamachi hand roll for $9 is a little expensive, but it was soo delicious, so there is decent value there.
Miso soup for $4 is way steep. Most traditional sushi bars will just give it to you.
I just wish the service was a little more attentive. My wife was angry that she had dirty plates in front of her.
When in Tucson again, we will probably try...
Read moreI returned to Ginza in Tucson with a critic’s memory and a parent’s schedule. Last time was a late-night romp with friends—cold beers, reckless sushi, a blur of excellent bites. Tonight, earlier, the desert air ran soft, so we claimed a table outside with the kids and let the evening unspool.
Japanese beers beaded with promise. We ordered like joyful bandits—almost half the menu—yet clarity arrived with the yellowtail sashimi: cool, lunar slices, silken and bright, the kind of purity that hushes a table. Gyozas followed, pan-kissed and juicy, snapping with that perfect edge. A seaweed salad—feather-light, mineral, lively—proved that restraint can sing louder than spectacle. My wife’s ramen—broth deep as a drum, noodles with a springy grin—was a quiet thunder; I’ll claim it on my next visit, which won’t be far off.
But the truest seasoning was company: dear friends, laughter folding into the dusk. Ginza doesn’t just serve dinner—it frames memories and...
Read moreThis review is only meant for anyone who is accommodating friends that love sushi. I don’t like sushi, it was my girlfriend’s birthday and two other friends made reservations for the 4 of us. They of course knew I hate sushi. I was assured there would be a choice of regular food. Okay, my only choice was teppan steak. It was fine, however, it’s served on a bed of lettuce? Really? No other type of side dish was offered. I had my choice of sauce. Teriyaki, bbq and something else I couldn’t remember. Anyway, I chose the bbq. Unfortunately it wasn’t even close to a bbq sauce. Everyone else had a great time and enjoyed their food. If you don’t like sushi and are expecting to have some sort of regular meal, you’ll be disappointed. There was no attempt to accommodate my taste. I felt like I was an inconvenience for the...
