I was very unhappy with my experience here. My family was visiting all the way from Norway to celebrate my auntâs 50th birthday and we had planned the whole day with a boat tour and was going to end it with a dinner at the Rainbow Room. I called about a month ago to make the reservation as we were a party of 8. I informed them that it was her birthday and that we wanted a room by the window if possible. The man that made my reservation spoke poor English so I decided to spell my name phonetically. When I spelled it I said âT as in Tom, O as in Oscar, N as in Nancy etc...â, just to be sure there was no misunderstanding. When we arrived at the restaurant they were not able to find my reservation, and I specifically said party of 8 for a 50th birthday with a request for a window table. After spending several minutes trying to find this non-existing reservation they decided to just get us some tables. I stated to the hostess 3 (!!!) times that this was for a birthday celebration. We ended up in the very back of the restaurant on two separate tables... After spending all day on a boat tour, we all were so hungry we decided to just take it... We were disappointed that we didnât get to celebrate this big moment together as planned but decided to make the best of it. In the menu it said that gratuity of 18% would be added to tables of 6 or more. We were on two tables and we were splitting up the check so I didnât think this applied to us. Well, once the check arrived, the 18% was in fact added on on. I normally tip 20% or more, so I donât mind tipping the 18%, but it is the principle. I complained to our waitress and explained the whole situation about the mess up and birthday and her only answer was âitâs our policy, nothing I can doâ. At that point I thought to myself âfine, Iâll pay the damn 18% instead of 20%++â. On my way out I asked to speak with a manager and explained the whole situation to her. I also explained that my aunt did not receive as much as a âhappy birthdayâ from any of the staff and the manager seemed upset with her staff over that and she said they normally do a free cake or something. She seemed very genuinely apologetic, which I appreciated, but she said âyou should have told me before and I would have gone out of my way to make it good for youâ. Well, doesnât help me now... She offered us free breakfast but we were staying at a different hotel that already had complimentary breakfast, so I declined. While taking to the manager one of the hostesses said âis this your reservation?â and showed me a reservation that said âTom Charlie party of 8 for birthday, window tableâ. My initials are TC, so you might be able to see where things went wrong... but seriously!! How can the guy that made the reservation mess it up so bad?! Did he just hear those letters? What happened to âO as in Oscar, N as in Nancyâ etc???!! So the entire time we were there there was a table by the window available for 8 people celebrating a birthday. How could they not put 2 and 2 together and realize that that was in fact us? Unbelievable.. we were just so upset we decided to leave. But I will be calling them back tomorrow to see about a refund. I will update this review if...
Read moreOur server, Guy, was great. Really friendly and attentive. Our food, however, was not good. My wife ordered the salmon which was very dry and cooked too long. I ordered the rib eye steak and let me tell you about this steak. Itâs 10 ounces and $32. The rib eye is about half an inch thick and tastes like something youâd buy in discount at Safeway. I ordered mine medium well but when it got to me it had no pink in the center. The second attempt was cooked correctly but thereâs really no way to salvage a cut of meat that is as poor as this one. If Iâm going to spend $32 on a steak dinner I would hope it would be better than what you could get at Waffle House, in this case Iâd choose Waffle House. The salvageable parts were the sides. The mashed potatoes were great and the grilled Brussel sprouts were incredible. Oh and theyâve got a really good house vinaigrette sauce for their salad but unfortunately the lettuce tasted almost rubbery and the vegetables were nearly frozen. All in all I personally would recommend staying far away from the steak and going with something easier like a burger or something. For the price thereâs plenty of other restaurants around that are far better. Maybe it was an off night for the cook or maybe just a bad batch of meat. Others have said great things about this place so whoâs to really say, I just wanted to share...
Read moreMay 1- myself and my wife are vacationing from California to see good places like Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell in Page Arizona and after Antelope Canyon we decided to eat at one of the nicest restaurant at Lake Powell, the Rainbow Room. After arriving at Lake Powell around 5 pm, we made reservations with Tonisha for a 6:15 dinner because we were told that reservations are required. We came a little bit late for our reservation and we were given a nice table (with a view). Sat down for 3 minutes and we got served with iced water. We were told that server will be with us to take our orders. 15 minutes passed and the girl who served us water came with bread and butter and asked if the server took our orders, and we responded no, not yet. She told us that she will inform the server that we have been waiting for her to take our orders. 10 minutes had passed and NO server in sight to take our orders!! We noticed some customers that came after us were already having their salads/soup. At this instant, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else. The manager tried to stop us but weâve made up our minds. I cannot believe that a restaurant this nice and decent can treat people like us that way!! This incident made us decide not to come back to Page, Arizona ever...
