So I went here this past weekend because I had a hankering for some Domican Food. I saw them once before when in the area and so decided to give them try and wish I took a pass. Not friendly at all. I walked in said hello how are you in Spanish as I do speak the language but I guess i did not look "Spanish" enough so the woman serving just answered back with a 'What do you want" in english like I was an inconvenience to be served. I asked for the Yuca in English and she said in a tone that was not welcoming is that all your getting and I again brushed it off and said no will be having other things. I asked for a small and she just sighed and stared and said it doesn't come like that and I said oh how does come and she said by the piece. I asked for 4 and extra onions and again a sigh from her as if I am asking too much and was a burden to be served. She bent down behind the counter and i thought was giving be onions, extra actually as I asked which I was more than happy and ready and expecting to pay for but once I got home and opening the box I saw she gave me 1 red onion ring but charged me for extra. The other items I ordered again she said come one size and she was doing her best to give me small pieces of meat and sifting thru the rice she put in the box putiing some back as if she is rationing every grain. Now I have eaten at my fair share of Spanish places and this place was a let down big time. Not welcoming, not friendly and cheap with the portions but big on Price. I will not...
Read moreNot a bad place, actually...it is a pretty typical of a Dominican hole-in-the-wall type place. I just had the usual yellow rice n beans with a giant piece of roasted chicken (like a leg quarter), with a few veggies (cooked broccoli and carrots, with some shredded, raw lettuce). This typical Dominican buffet style meal, cost me all of eleven bucks plus tax plus I gave her a dollar tip, so, as you can see, it wasn't exactly a "budget-breaker", but rather inexpensive, in fact. And, the wonderful Caribbean ladies serving me were friendly enough, as I continued to practice my rudimentary Spanish (ha ha ha...), with them and with some of the customers, also--on this cold Friday afternoon, in the middle of March, up here in Yankee land. And, there was so much on my plate (for a measly eleven bucks), that I couldn't even eat it all--and had to take some "to go", with me, as well. Overall, it was a pretty good experience, with the only negative being the small size of this hole-in-the-wall place, and their limited use of English matched up with my limited use of Spanish...
Read moreI donât know where should I start⊠My boyfriend recommended this place because the food is supposed to be âgood.â I called to place a takeout order, and when I got home to eat, the food was in terrible condition. I ordered beef with onions, but the meat was tough and cold like it had just come out of a freezer. The black rice was clumpy and had a sour vinegar-like taste, as if it was going bad. I also ordered mashed potatoes, which were also turning sour.
I called and explained the situation to one of the workers, and instead of trying to help, she scolded me like it was all my fault. I was just looking for a solution. I feel really frustrated and still hungry.
Think twice before ordering food...
