Came here before and had good food and better drinks, but we sat on the patio. This time around, I invited two other couples who were clients of mine and brought my wife. We ordered a tequila. Paloma had to send it back, ordered another drink it was par. When I came in, I looked around at the patio, which had the rolled windows down because it was hot out and people were sweating on the patio. So I decided to sit inside where the air conditioning should be working. We noticed the thermostat was set for 70, but it was reading 78° inside, and the server said the way they have their air conditioning set up, it doesn't reach. What they needed were two large fans in the big center of the restaurant to force the air down. Most of the staff were sweating. My guests commented on the hot air and the large number of flies for which they give you these little table fans for the flies. It's definitely a third-world experience. We ordered the duck fat fries and calamari for appetizers along with chicken wings the chicken wings were good, but the duck fat fries were a fancy flat fry that ended up being just soggy and the calamari was just fried tempura with little bits of calamari. Since it was hot, we ordered salads, and one in our party ordered some pasta. They were good. Overall, the experience was not one that I could trust to bring back clients. Our server was awesome and did a good job. Along with the hosts and the guy who set up our table, they were all...
Read moreCoal Town had been on my watch list for a while. We decided to try it for a birthday dinner on a Friday night. The place was packed! Full bar, tables were all full. Luckily we made a reservation (absolutely recommend) and we were seated right away. Our server was a lot of fun and energetic, which goes a long way because we have a few small children. We started with duck fat fries and wings. Both were very good. Their Cranberry Old Fashioned was a pleasant, unique holiday twist to one of my favorite drinks. I ordered the NY Strip and it was ok. Not much seasoning, but cooked medium, just how I like my steak. We also ordered the Carbonara Papperadelle, Crispy Chicken Sandwich and the Italian Salad. All of which were ok. Not a ton of flavor happening with any of these dishes. The pasta was made fresh, which is always good, but fresh pasta needs to be the vehicle for more flavors. I was expecting a bit more depth from these dishes, based on the prices. The atmosphere is fun and it was decorated nicely for Christmas. There was also live music that was very subtle, but helped to fill the air. Overall, not a bad experience, but I might not go back for dinner. The Coal Town brunch has a decent reputation, maybe we'll give...
Read moreThought we’d have a nice dinner out as a family. Review isn’t for service, it is for the food that came out cold, the manager that never came or to see what was wrong, $50.00 steak refused, 32.00 entree refused, side refused…. Waitress was great but manager didn’t even come out…. Until the end. Afterward, we asked why manager never came out.
Sorry can’t make something right after it was so wrong.
Listen... waitress was great, manager was very nice after he came out … after I asked why manager never came to address issue (would he have come had I. Not said anything?????)… but In the end I left hungry, my wife left hungry and very Dissatisfied. .
Not coming back I hope I didn’t offend manager. I was just upset.
UPDATE: The manager called me the next day leaving me a sincerely apologetic message. I called him back and we spoke. He wanted to make things right, which was very nice of him. Not sure I will ever take him up on it, but I at least owe this establishment the courtesy of letting y’all know that they reached out promptly and want to make up for our...
