Was excited to try this new restaurant and see how they fixed up the inside, but the giant bar still takes over most of the first room, and they barely remodeled the other room. Was hoping for a new look with a smaller bar and more tables and chair seating. Bathroom still has a weird configuration also. Well, we are not going to let that get us because it is a small business and things like that are expensive. We arrived at 6 PM on a Saturday, there were only two prime rib pieces left, but we had four people interested. So that was disappointing. Also heard the table next to us come in 15 minutes later to find out that there was no prime rib, I’m sure they were also disappointed. Unfortunately, the prime rib was very tough. Prime rib ordered medium rare should be very buttery and soft, but it wasn’t. Food came out at different times at the table. We mentioned something to the waitress and they were very apologetic, gave us a discount and even a gift card to come back. We really want this place to work out so we will be back to try a fish fry some other time. Hamburgers were very good. Was disappointed that the menu hadn’t changed much from the old restaurant. They could use some new chicken and pasta dishes. Would like to say the staff is great! They actually are trying to improve with each customer and took our suggestions to heart. I’m sure they will be better every day because of the care and pride in their restaurant.

We were excited to try this place. Sadly the food was a miss. I ordered a spinach salad as a side but took it home and added some hard boiled eggs. Any spinach salad with bacon dressing I’ve had at other restaurants always came with hard boiled eggs. My husband & I both had the beef stroganoff special which was a huge miss. The too thin sauce should be simmered to cook the sauce, veggies & meat to delicious tender comfort food. Instead, the onions & mushrooms were crunchy and every piece of tough meat had fat on it. Since the sauce wasn’t cooked low & slow enough to even cook the onions & mushrooms, the fat didn’t render and the meat didn’t get tender. This was a huge disappointment at $24 which was high even if it was cooked properly. The 2nd picture is my side plate with hard fat I had to bite off of every piece of tough meat. We both got the cream chicken & rice soup as our side and the soup was very thin with hardly any chicken, rice or veggies. I counted 3 grains of rice in my soup. It was basically a broth. We didn’t care for the bun either. It was dry & flavorless. We will give it one more try off the regular menu hoping for a win next time. The service was good and 3 different people said good night to us as we left.

Ricky's is in the former Wegner's Restaurant location, in St. Martins. We visited on a Friday, and had the Friday Fish Fry. My friend had the 3-piece Cod dinner, and I chose the Friday Fish Fry Sampler. The Sampler had Walleye, Cod, Lake Perch. I love the lighter batter/coating! The Homemade Potato Pancakes with Maple Syrup are very good too. Rye Bread, Coleslaw, Tartar Sauce compliment the dish. $22.95 for the Sampler - but worth it! All the fish was perfectly done -great job. Lorie, our server, was courteous & friendly. A bit quiet there for a Friday afternoon, but it was easy to talk, so that was a plus. They also have ice cream drinks, so maybe a place for a Pink Squirrel or Grasshopper if you're inclined.

We went for Friday fish fry. It was crowded, and we had an hour wait, so hung out at the bar. Drinks were good, especially the sour old fashions. For appetizers, we ordered the reubin rolls. They were fabulous, fried but not greasy at all, they were light and crispy. My husband and I each got a bowl of clam chowder and opted to split the fish sampler consisting of perch, cod and walleye. The soup was good, light and creamy, not thick or starchy like so many are. Our companions ordered onion soup but the restaurant was out of it, so they got the clam chowder and liked it as well. The fish sampler was great. The breading was light and tasty, maybe with a hint of garlic? Servings were ample. I liked the perch best, our companions liked the walleye best. I didn't have any, but everyone else at the table commented on how good the fries were. The drink that I ordered, vodka and club (the same drink I had at the bar), came as vodka and tonic. I sent it back and got the same thing. I don't know if perhaps the lines were switched at that end of the bar or the bartender didn't know the difference between club soda and tonic, but I gave up after the second try. We were not charged for it. All of the staff, from the owner to bartenders to wait staff, and especially the bus staff were all very cordial and were really busting their butts. Stellar job! I typically do not like fried or bar food, but I'd be happy to return for the fish fry. ...
