Love the Atmosphere and pretty good service but food was way over rated. And honestly, I would put this in my top 3 as most overrated and overvalued mexican in Middle TN! Why you ask? Well the food was not very good, and being a real foodie I ordered allot of it. To start ordered the Chilli con queso with added brisket was almost disgusting, like with weird sauce on top of the cheese like an aioli sauce that didn't go well at all. Ordered the bean dip, and was another disappointment. The Chips and Salsa that come free were pretty good! We ordered the skirt steak Fajitas for two. The home made tortillas were under cooked, the ingredients for the portion size was off and doughy, thick and hard to eat. And the steak was over cooked and very bland. You could tell the salt and pepper was actually added after the steak was cooked instead of as it was cooking to add to the natural flavor and juices of the steak. Major bummer... Anyway, we didn't want to try the dessert at this point. I really hoped this would have been a winner but we were $80 into a meal for two and it was best to grab the check and "get out of dodge". Hope this helps you guys. I think a better choice would have been to stop by Uncle Julios in brentwood.

I dont know what happened between march, the last time we went there and oct but it was truly disappointing. The place was not packed yet there were at least 5 servers standing around, all of whom saw us come in and carried on chatting among themselves. There was really "low" energy there to attend to customers. They took us to a table that was sticky and the seat to my right had food on it still? When they brought the drinks, just asked for iced tea my glass was missing a large chunk of glass on the rim...it was the most broken glass I have ever been served anything in ever, the waiter must have been in a parallel universe when filling up the glass. When our food finally arrived, my fajita was not even hot, the rice was some weird mush...it was awful...I told the waiter and he just looked at me as if to say not my problem. The sad candle thing on our table pretty much sums it up. I wont go on...but it just goes downhill from there...so, not somewhere I will be visiting soon. Sad, because it used to be great.. oh, the salsa was more like water than salsa...that's when it started going sideways....

We booked an 8pm reservation because we were coming to dinner after the Christmas concert at our church. At 7:45pm I received a text asking if we were still planning on coming for our 8pm reservation. I replied yes, we will be there in 5 minutes (7:50pm). When we arrived I mentioned to the hostess about the text we received and the hostess happened to also be the manager that night. She said she sent that text because the kitchen closes at 8pm. I am not sure why they would accept a reservation at 8pm if they close then. Nevertheless she sat us at a table and our waitress came over and was very abrupt and got our drink order. 2 minutes later she returned asking if we were ready to order and we needed a few more minutes. The waitress then told us that the kitchen closes at 8pm and it is now 8:10pm. This made us think that they could not serve us but then she went ahead and got our orders. At this time we have felt nothing but rushed and the waitress was very rude and did not make us feel welcomed. I then went to get the manager and explained that the text messages I received on the way there and the waitress' attitude did not make us feel wanted and that we were an inconvenience to them. The manager told me it was her first night as manager and that she was very sorry. Meanwhile the waitress heard me talking to the manager and she got upset and went to the table and started "mouthing off" to my 2 family members who were sitting at the table that by the time I got back to the table they wanted to leave. I then went to find the waitress to tell her that we were leaving and I heard her talking negatively about us to the manager and other wait staff. I told her that I could hear her and she got extremely defensive and rude with me. I just wanted to tell her that we were leaving so she could cancel our orders. The waitress and I went back and forth for awhile in which she disclosed she was having to close tonight and that her mental health is not great. She eventually apologized for her behavior and said she can bring our food right out. Unfortunately my 2 family members did not want to stay and we ended up going to a different restaurant. This has to be one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. They should not have accepted an 8pm reservation if the kitchen closes then and should not make the customer feel like they are an inconvenience to them and treat them the way they treated us, being verbally irate. I am incredibly disappointed...

Update on July 28th: The owner immediately responded back with his contact information. We spoke about the incident and he listened and expressed sympathy. He just wanted me to speak up at the restaurant but I didn’t want to make a scene. He offered a gift card so with that being said, I’m going to give it a second chance. I do not want this experience to stop other people for going especially when the owner immediately wants to fix it. You do not see that often. Thanks

This is my first time visiting Sopapillas in Franklin’s. I ordered the vegan tortilla soup and 10 minutes later I found out they didn’t make the soup today. So I specifically ordered a taco with just beans, lettuce and cheese and emphasized beans like 3 times to our server. I also made him aware I was a vegetarian. I asked if he had any questions on my ordered and he nodded no. Needless to say, I took a bite out of my taco and it had meat in it. I was hoping the manager would walk around since it had at least 5 other families. When our server came around I told him it had meat and it didn’t bother him. I have Been a vegetarian for 35 years and today was my first day of taking a bite and immediately spitting it out and it didn’t bother him at all. On top of that, our salsa had a string, plastic or something in it. I didnt Want to cause a scene since I was on a date with my husband but just disappointed and disgusted. The manager should have done a better job of checking each table instead of not being around. On top of that, I had to pay for the meal. What the heck, it was clearly the young sever fault but he should have talked to the manager or the boss when stuff like that happens. Yes, I had to pay...

Just had the most disgusting experience of my life. My friend and I visited Sopapilla’s today on May 5th, 2023 at 9PM. We were sat down fairly quickly, greeted by nice staff. All was well, but as soon as we took one bite of our food, I noticed something crawling on the table. I stood up and started saying bug because I’m freaked out when I see any bug. Next thing I know, it crawls up on my friends plate of food. A LITERAL GIANT BRIGHT RED COCKROACH. I’m freaked out, a waitress passes by and I let her know what happened, she immediately runs off as if she already expected me to say that. A manager soon walks up and immediately tries to calm me down and cover it up essentially. She was nice enough to offer to remake our food free of charge. Explains to us that it’s due to construction and that they were aware of the roach problem but that it wasn’t in the kitchen. She then takes us to the other side of the restaurant and is still trying to calm us down. Tells us to sit down repeatedly. Idk she was nice but we were so freaked out we left. As we are looking into their reviews, we are seeing so many from previous employees speaking on how gross it is & how roaches are apparently rampant. I will be posting this anywhere I can think of. I have never experienced anything even close to this before. I’m not saying that they responded badly to it, but I definitely don’t think they’re going to fix the problem. And I think for the safety of customers people need to see this review...
