Most of these colonized islands set up opportunities for their people to claim the best real estate and set up business to reap the benefits of tourism. Please keep that in mind when spending here. We identify as Africans of the diaspora and we did not sense any racial tension here. You may ask “why is everything have to be about race” because we’ve learned that everything IS about race especially when you travel to the islands. No racial tension is a plus because we typically read reviews from visitors that are not locals or natives of the colony. And they are mostly oblivious to it and mostly intoxicated and it’s mostly good. We ALWAYS READ THE THREE STARS OR LESS REVIEWS. Judging by the response from the owner on a previous not so good review about racial tension, the cynicism and sarcasm in the response is indicative to the lack of awareness and privilege that usually becomes of them. This place has Good quality food. We came straight from our cruise ship and decided to have a change from the buffet breakfast. My wife ordered a sausage egg and cheese on a muffin with a coffee. I had the egg and chicken quesadilla and a coffee. Service was on point. But the breakfast was super expensive we came with 40 dollars cash and spent $34 on it here! Not sure why the coffee is $3.50 a cup. No waiters, self seat and they will bring it to you. Tip jar at the front too. We understand with inflation and the cost of business it is what it is. We like to stick to local native restaurants usually but it was 8 am and there wasn’t enough assistance with someone pointing us in that direction. If we ever come here again we may get some...
Read moreWhat happened to Polly’s? We have been coming to Polly’s for years. After a morning dive we always went to Polly’s for lunch. Service was never super fast but we were never in a hurry after we went diving. But this time you ask yourself “how long have we been here”? After an hour (yes and hour) and seeing the few people around you who ordered after we did getting their food and leaving you start to wonder “did they loose our order”? It wasn’t like they were busy. When we asked about our food one person went to check and never came back. Now they are closing (over and hour now), putting chairs on the tables all around us, you’d think they would look into our order? Or even ask why we are still there? When I went to ask about our order with no eye contact from the woman behind the counter she said “they are working on it”. For over an hour? It did finally come out, no apology, no drink refill. Now we felt rushed to get out of there because they were sweeping and closing down the place. How was the food? Over cooked and dry. I couldn’t eat my wrap. We told some of the locals about our experience and they were not surprised. They said there was new ownership and quality has gone down. One woman said she found a hair in her food last time she went. The new owners need a lesson in customer service. Really wish we hadn’t tipped before we got our food. All in all, walked in at noon and left a little after 2:00. If you want a 180 degree experience go to sand castle. Beautiful outdoor seating on the ocean, excellent food and service. No attitude and...
Read moreThis was our only walk to coffee/breakfast spot. Our breakfast burrito on the first day was good as well as the friendly lady who brought it to the table however that was our only positive experience here. Sadly the gentleman behind the counter was extremely unhappy and rude each time we ordered and honestly moved slower than a turtle . Idk if he was having a bad week or what. The day before I asked him for a cup of ice which he looked at me and turned around and no I didn’t get a cup of ice. We are a happy and friendly couple who tip well and strive to get to know the people that we meet on vacation. We are easy customers. . One of the mornings as I was ordering a take out sandwich for one and being rang up I was told the kitchen was backed up so she couldn’t take my order. So I ordered a frapp to go. Paid and waited for 20 minutes. I watched the same gentleman make drinks for people who came in after me and I finally asked the cashier and she said she was sorry that he skipped me and so she made it herself. There were 4 people sitting at the time of the kitchen backup. I was the 3rd person in line. I can only assume that they had a big to go order to not be taken anymore orders which I can understand. We ended up driving to the other end of the island for breakfast the rest of the week where we were met with smiling faces and...
