Very confusing process for ordering food. When my wife and I came here for lunch, we were seated and given water but weren’t given any menus for ordering. However, there was a QR code on the table with the label “C3” and no English instructions. After waiting for roughly ten minutes, the waiter never came to our table, so we thought this was a similar process as some other Chinese restaurants we’ve been to: scan the QR code and order your food on the website.
The food was decent. Nothing special to mention here.
The big issue to highlight here is that after we finished our food and were able to leave, the waiter stopped us and said we didn’t pay yet. Confused, we showed them the transaction on both the website and our banking app, which showed that the order went through and was already paid for. However, it turns out that the QR code that was on our table is for ordering take out, not for dining in. The funny thing is that there’s even a sign up front with a QR code that says something like “scan this QR code to view and ORDER” in English, so it makes sense that some customers like us would scan and pay for their meal through the QR code, right?
As a result, we apparently ordered both dine in and take out, and they wanted us to pay for BOTH of these. We were able to talk them out of this (we only came in for dine in, so we only paid for this), and they told us to keep this in mind the next time we come back (if we ever do).
To the restaurant staff: this is all on you. You all made this process very confusing and wanted us to pay for your mistakes. We are never...
Read moreIt was our first time to Ping's Bistro. Service & ambience, I give it 4 Stars. Food, I give it 2.5 Stars. Wait Time, I give it 2.5 Stars. Prices, 2.5 Stars ($75 for 3pp). We came based on the reviews & for the Steamed Fish Filet w/Peppers (similar to Dual Fish we liked at Shao Mountain restaurant that closed). The waiting area in front only had room to seat 4pp & was pretty cramp for the 3 of us standing along w/2 others. We arrived at 8pm on a Sat night & our table for 3pp got seated in 30mins. The seats at our table were comfortable but the spot light above was a bit too glaring. Service was ok. Our food came pretty fast & portions were big. Our $12 large milktea was big enough for the 3 of us to split & have 1.5 cups each. Unfortunately, the milktea was the only item we really liked. The Shredded Chicken Noodle w/Cucumbers was not spicy nor flavorful enough. The Chairman Mao's Braised Pork Belly was ok, but not tender enough. We were really disappointed with the Steamed Fish Filet w/Peppers; It was extremely salty & not spicy enough also. We tried to scrape off the green & red peppers sauce on top to see if it would be better but it was still too salty to eat. I brought the leftovers home & my boyfriend tried the Chairman Mao's Braised Pork Belly & said it sucked because it wasn't tender & kind of dry. We probably...
Read moreThis place is amazing by Chinese standards. I moved to this area one year ago, didn’t find any good Chinese restaurants, a lot of mom&pop level food. But this place’s food and service is top tier, felt like I was in china for a second. Love their fish, fresh, LIVE and cooked just right. Shrimp balls were bomb too.
Service was amazing 10/10 better than haidilao
Suggestions/意见/建议:
Soup: not a menu with many soup options, perhaps include some simple vegetable soup for balance. Even egg drop/corn soup is fine. The only bone soup available that we ordered was o-k, could have cleaned out the pork bones more for a cleaner taste.
红烧肉 was ok very soft but the flavor is just more salty than anything else. I think the spice is not proportional. It’s mad salty.
Overall great experience would def visit again.
Long lines on the weekend plan...
