As a kid, my cousins and I used to go to Hungry Howie’s on Ashlan and West. I had a lot of fond memories then and I decided to come here for nostalgic reasons on Sunday. It was nice to see the yellow boxes again, it took me back to when I was a kid. Living in the Bay Area now makes me miss some things from the Valley and it was nice to have a slice of pizza that I used to have as a kid. Anywho I had ordered their pepperoni pizza and a 3 cheeser bread with the garlic sauce for dip. The food was okay, nothing blew me away at all but the “3 cheeser bread” for some reason wasn’t fully cooked, it still had that chewy, mushy, doughy texted on almost every piece except for the corners and the slices next to it. The part of the bread that is near the cheese isn’t quite cooked and for those who have had undercooked bread before that taste isn’t hard to tell. Even upon inspection I saw that it was still not completely cooked unfortunately. So to the owner, if you’re reading this you’d probably want to have your employees check the dough on the bread just in case. I think the heat might’ve been too high and it cooked the bottom portion right but the top where the cheese touched didn’t get enough time to cook. I could be the only one with bad luck but as an owner of a restaurant myself it’s better safe than sorry. As for the employees the service they gave me was okay, I asked for a box or to even purchase a box and they did give it to me. I wasn’t rude or I believe i didn’t come off as rude but the person helping me wasn’t friendly at all. As soon as I walked in, “did you need to place an order or are you hear to pick up” was all I got. No thank you or have a nice day or anything. Everybody looked like they hated their job tonight and for me owning my own restaurant, I would hate to see my employees treat my customers the same way. It could be a case of teenagers being teenagers but what I received from them today wasn’t satisfactory in my books. I wasn’t expecting a service like when I go to a five star restaurant or a California Pizza Kitchen but it’s just not good service nor was it professional in any sense. Overall the place is okay for pizza, it’s not terrible pizza at all but it’s just okay pizza to me but much better than another local pizza place called “Pacifica Pizza” by miles in my opinion. The garlic sauce is alright, I prefer the ones from Domino’s and Little Caesar’s better. As for the “3 cheeser bread” the flavor is alright, it’s not very strong compared to the crust flavoring I got with the pizza but it’s okay. It’s the fact that bread wasn’t fully cooked that made it not so good anymore. So for newcomers I say give this place a try if you’re not sure what kind of pizza place to eat at, who knows you might like it but I hope you don’t get undercooked cheese bread like I did tonight. Also just be weary if you see the teenagers or young adults working; you’re not going to get the best service of your...
Read morePretty disappointing I was quoted a certain price and my card was charged over $10 more. When I disputed the charge with the store I was told that I wasn't offered what I was quoted because I had my food delivered even though they quoted me my price with delivery. Pizza wasn't hot either. When I was paying for the order I was told my total was 23.98 I gave my card information and when the pizza arrived I looked at my receipt and I was actually charged 31.97. The pizza I paid for was $6.50 or more than what I was told it was gonna cost me. And I'm not complaining about the 5.99 delivery fee because I knew I would be paying extra to have the pizza delivered but because I did that and paid more for delivery I was unable to be charged the amount I was told I would pay. It's almost like stealing when you think you're paying a certain amount and the store is charging you a what...
Read moreI placed an order online & was given a time it would be ready. I got there maybe 3 min after that time & they told me it wasn't done. So I'm forced to sit and wait for it & I nearly passed out from the heat in that place! It was over 100° outside but it was definitely cooler outside than in there. The whole time I waited all I heard was the 2 employees complaining about the orders & the people that made them. I don't think they realized I was in there since I had to practically yell several times EXCUSE ME before they poked their heads over the back counter to see what I wanted. Thankfully the pizza was better than their service and the facilities. Never let down when it comes to the flavor! Love Hungry Howies pizza! *I was also a lil frustrated that I couldn't locate that particular store when I searched for it. Every other location was listed but...
