Excellent fresh food with authentic flavor.
The paneer is home made. We can tell, because we have eaten paneer in almost all the restaurants in Fresno. The spices in food are fresh. not ready-made or mass produced like their counterparts. They are like they usually are in homemade food in India.
Quantity of paneer (the most expensive component in vegetarian food) is about double the amount you get in fancier restaurants. It marinated in fresh spices, not in ready-made masala.
We like to eat good food and have less importance of ambience. Who likes to eat stale food which does not taste good and highly priced just to be able to sit in a restaurant with glamor - missing in this place.
Service is excellent. People are polite. Chef comes out and asks questions to get the right stuff for customers with dietary restrictions.
Lastly, the sweets. Rasmalai is an Indian sweet which also gives one protein besides good amount of calories. They are made from scratch at this restaurant. They are delicious. Mowa burfi is also great. They are the best in town and probably in the entire Central Valley.
How about the bill? Surprising low priced food of...
Read moreUpdating my review after today's take out order my boyfriend had delivered today... this used to be my FAVORITE place. We haven't been since last year because of trying to eat more at home. We ordered our usual favorites. The rice was different... not terrible but not as good as before, and smaller portions for sure. The chicken korma I selected "mild" and there was a big glob of super spicy red paste that was not properly mixed in or diluted that I bit into by surprise (was hiding in the sauce). Definitely not a "mild" experience lol!!! My mouth and throat are still burning. And the thickness/flavor was definitely not the same. The naan just felt limp and not super flavorful, kinda burnt and bland dough. It's not the most terrible food, but compared to the previous level of quality and taste it sure seems like it. I see other reviews of people who say the owners changed, and if that's the cause, what a shame!! I don't think I can order confidently from here anymore, or recommend them...
Read moreI'm going to be harsh because I expect more from a service oriented establishment. First I'll say the food was decent. Tasty but not especially flavorful. The Naan was sub-par. Maybe I've eaten at too many awesome Indian cuisine places so I have a lot to compare it to.
The star deductions are for: -Missing the mushrooms my wife asked for in the dish -initially forgetting the Naan so that once reminded and brought out, the food was cold and had to be reheated.
Considering we were the only people in there at the time, I expected better attention to detail.
Thanks for the free Indian tea, this earned you...
