HAHA Sushi — Restaurant in Fresno

I have been going here for years. It’s close by home and it’s convenient. The sushi is usually pretty good that’s why I’ve returned. However; I’ve experienced a few times lack of “welcome” or attention. The waitresses are usually nice but it seems like they are ran around like little minions by the owner of this place. If he is there, it’s a different vibe. The owner of this place I can count more than once or twice, has a sour face and attitude. Today, was the cake! I passed up on Wasabi (another sushi spot) and drove to HAHA Sushi. I walked in and low and behold, the owner was there & the only one behind the sushi bar. I sit down at the sushi bar and he looks at me with the most miserable face and rude tone “it’s going to take 35 mins to eat” I said oh wow really? He said yeah! All these people sitting here are waiting 35mins - there’s lots of orders!” I was like “oh ok, maybe not then” I stood up from my stool and he didn’t even look at me, say a word and that was that. As I walked out I asked the waitress 35 mins? To eat? Once you’re seated? She said “I guess?” I said “he has a foul attitude every time i see him here!” She said “yeah I know” I left and drove down to another street to SUSHI ARK on Herndon/Marks. They were busy. Almost every table full. And, they were nice and welcoming even with ONLY ONE MAN making sushi. They have constant people coming in. HAHA had 3 tables and I was basically made to feel like I was being kicked out because the owner was so overwhelmed and rude! The owner here unfortunately has the worst attitude. His workers and other sushi guys have always been cool…. Sad as an owner he’d treat his customers...

I ordered from this place on DoorDash at 7pm and received a text from DoorDash at 8pm that my order was delivered. I never received my order and my camera's show no one delivered anything to my house. After waiting 15min to get ahold of DoorDash support, I got a full refund. I went to the restaurant at 8:25pm and informed the hostess of what happened. I asked if I could please reorder my food and pay for it. She apologized generously for my troubles and found my order check and took it to the manager. As soon as the manager came out he rudely told me (in broken English) I needed to call DoorDash. I explained to him that I already received my refund and all I wanted to do was to reorder my food and pay for it. He didn't understand what I was explaining. He said they don't take DoorDash orders after 8:30pm. I explained again I wanted to reorder in person for take-out and pay. He said no they are already closed (even though thier business hours posted are till 9:30pm). I asked if he could make an exception being as the cooks were still cooking and I'm a frequent customer of theirs. He refused to do so. Worst customer service. It wasn't a complicated order. The hostess admitted that they only have one order left to make. It wouldn't have taken much time to remake my order. Will never return to this...

It is nice and it is clean. The service was friendly and efficient. I ordered a tofu vegetable bowl which has teriyaki sauce on it and cost $9.50. The food looked nice and the portions are generous but I didn't care for my tofu vegetable bowl because it had no terriyaki flavor at all. The only flavor came from whatever oil the vegetables were cooked in. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't teriyaki. I also ordered an Agedashi tofu appetizer which was close to $6.00. I don't remember exactly what the price was at this time. Again nice size portions and presentation but the tofu, which is deep fried, comes served sitting in the tempura sauce versus serving the tofu and sauce separately, thus by the time the tofu was cool enough to eat the majority of the outside crust was soggy and falling off of the tofu. That was disappointing and made eating it a different experience then if it hadn't been soggy. My friend ordered a Las Vegas roll and a Chicken bowl. He liked his food but also described his Chicken bowl as not having any teriyaki flavor to it. To summarize...the food was not bad, just not what I expected and/or wanted. They give you a lot of food and it is presented very nice. The atmosphere and service is also very nice...
