Upon entering through a very dirty glass door, I was surprised how pretty the shop is. Well lit and nicely decorated. The music was extremely loud. If the tables were full of people I would imagine it would be overwhelming and not likely to be a place to have a conversation over lunch. There were two other people inside, both workers, as well as one person in the back. The two people in front were sitting at tables on their phones not working. The man got up to help me. He was polite and answered questions but was not overly friendly or helpful. The paper menus have seen better days. They are very well used (breakout the hand sanitizer before eating kind of well used) and should be replaced.I ordered a turkey bacon avocado on focaccia. I didnât know it came with a side until I went to pay. I asked what the additional charge was and was told it was soup. I didnât even want a side but I went with it and asked if there was another option and I ended up choosing the fries. While waiting, I noticed that everything needed a good wipe down. The soda machine, windows, trash bin area, dessert case, they all had noticeable streaks of dirt and grime. Instead of sitting and watching their phones, the employees time would be better spent keeping a tidier, cleaner space for an otherwise nicely decorated area.
I tried the fries first. I was quite surprised at the portion size. There were so many fries! They are your average beer battered type fry. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Iâm not sure if they forgot to season at the end but they definitely could have used some finishing salt or seasoning. Remarkable fries, no. Good fries, yes.
The turkey bacon avocado sandwich was a good size. There was a generous amount of shredded turkey breast, cheddar and what must have been an entire avocado. The bacon was chunks of bacon. Some chewy and some big hunks of bacon fat. The sandwhich was pressed and after a couple of bites I could tell that either the press needed to be cleaned or the oil they brush the bread with was old. It had a very off putting flavor and left a slightly rancid after taste. I couldnât even get through half of a half of sandwich.
Perhaps this visit was an off day for the shop but it left me thinking that what has potential to be a fantastic little sandwich shop is really just like a teenager in need of a shower and a good haircut to...
Read moreI had the wonderful experience of dining here for the first time with my mother. We were starving and walked in here because it was nearest to us and the previous reviews were positive. Focaccia did not disappoint! Upon entering the humble restaurant we felt welcomed! Sanjay, who is one of the owners, immediately greeted us and was so attentive with us. He was so enthusiastic about answering any questions we had about the menu. My mom ordered the Mexicana burger, I ordered the buffalo chicken & bacon avocado panini with a side of brisket chili soup, and for my toddler I ordered chicken strips with fries. Sanjay made us some Arnold Palmers because weâre not soda drinkers so we were very appreciative of that. My momâs burger looked incredible! I regret not taking a photo of it. She finished the entire thing she said it was so delicious! The patty was well done but incredibly juicy and flavorful. My panini was perfectly seasoned and with real pieces of shredded chicken and generous amount of avocado and bacon. My chili brisket soup was delightful: the brisket so tender and it wasnât heavy at all. Even the chicken tenders were juicy and crispy. My son was very happy. We had a lovely meal and a wonderful conversation with Renu, who is Sanjayâs wife, and it was like chatting with an old friend. I will be visiting again and recommending it to my friends and family. I also recommend you to try it out! Everything is fresh and made from scratch. You can taste it! Thank you to Sanjay, Renu, and the gentleman in the kitchen whose name I didnât catch. We had a lovely dining experience with you and we...
Read moreFrom the UK visiting family in Fresno and wanted to eat something a bit different for dinner tonight. Found Focaccia after doing a bit of Googling and looking at the reviews and photos. They have an impressive 4.9 out of 5 stars and that was a huge deciding factor as well as being open past 8pm. As soon as we walked in we were greeted really warmly by the owner and his wife. Straight away they picked up we were from the UK (accent). We ordered our food ⌠the spicy chicken burger and a few of the hot sandwiches. Whilst we were waiting we were offered samples of their soups (sooo good) and I was offered an iced tea - tried the pomegranate one (amazing). Even had a cookie thrown in (so soft and delicious). Had such a lovely conversation as the owner was from the UK - travelled the globe and has such exquisite culinary skills (executive chef) so impressive. We left there having such a great experience and feeling like family. We had exceptional service and the food was so good. Would definitely recommend eating here - there is a reason why the reviews are so good đ Focaccia is a place you have to try. Itâs saved as a favourite place to eat in my...
