Tacos El Chilango Fresno — Restaurant in Fresno

It'd be 5 stars if not for the location/interior, but the food is so good, I keep coming back for more.

Since the owners can't really control their surroundings, I won't mention that, but the interior is a small hole-in-the-wall type of place, nothing fancy. Seating is limited, and we've been shuffled around before to accommodate seating for other patrons when they need to rearrange tables.

Now for the food: I ALWAYS get the same two things, and have never been disappointed. The Flor de Calabaza quesadillas and the Huitlacoche quesadillas. I'm not vegan or vegetarian or anything but man they're good, but it's the Flor de Calabaza that just hits the spot for me. Full of flavor, and the portions are pretty big for a quesadilla! The Huitlacoche is also good, but my favorite is the Flor de calabaza, and some people might be put off by the appearance of Huitlacoche but don't judge a book by its cover! My kiddos always have the asada tacos there and have never complained, so I assume they're good too. Anyway, it's a heck of a drive from me coming from Clovis, but I'm happy to do it for those...

I only ordered tacos so I will only comment about them.

Al pastor - well marinated, flavorful Carne Asada - juicy, perfect balance of salt Suadero - a little too dry, but still was soft and delicious Cabeza - my favorite of all the meats I tried, soft, flavorful, small pieces of fat Tripas - I asked for extra crispy and they were, very clean, crispy

Their salsa roja is one of the best I’ve had. A perfect balance of spice and flavor with hints of garlic, excellent roasted tomatoes, well-blended.

I know they have handmade tortillas, but I didn’t ask for them with my tacos. I will ask next time.

Horrible experience this weekend so they sit us down and then the waitress tell us is was going to be and HR waiting for a soup and some eggs!! And hr I ask they said because the to go orders go first !! Wow I left very disappointed like really was so hard to put the soup on the plate!! So then I left to another restaurant and got my food in less than 5 minutes!! Don't go here they are so unprofessional and the food is cheap!!...
