I have never reviewed a restaurant before and am so torn on this one I felt compelled to share this. As stated, the chicken salad, especially over rice, is really good, I've been coming here for years. I have a friend that comes from LA and this is the only place he will have lunch while in town. That's the good news. Here's the reasons I can't give this a higher rating...over the years they have considerably reduced the amount of chicken in each salad, raised the prices considerably and still only take cash. While they make a darn good salad it's frustrating that they choose to by really tight with basic things. These are small things but make a difference, the forks are really whimpy (they bend trying to stab the lettuce), the staff isn't very polite, they don't give refills on drinks, and condiments and napkins need to be asked for as everything is behind the counter. It's too bad they don't see the value in catering to the customer because while they are busy, they could be far busier and have...

Been coming here since 2004. Have prices gone up? Yes. That’s more political related and not by owners choice. Minimum wage, raw food costs, etc have sky rocketed.
Anyways. I’ve only had one so so meal and that’s because I arrived 20 min late when I called the order in. I’ve eaten there several thousand times and food is always delicious. Always hot and perfect spice. Only thing I hate is they don’t take cards. They should put and ATM machine inside and make a fortune lol. But if you don’t have cash and you eat there frequently just give them your name and number and tell them you will get them on the next trip. Then pay them next time. They will keep a record for you. But if you’re a good human being I’m sure you won’t screw them over.
Anyways this place rocks and I might be biased as I eat there 4-5 days a week but I know I can always expect a hot fresh meal when I do. Highly...
Read moreThis place has the best chicken salad hands down. Even all those fancy restaurants' salad can't come close to Zeni-Ya's. The dressing is a vinaigrette type, but doesn't have the highly sour, acidic taste. It has a light sour and spicy kick to it with a hint of sweetness to sooth your tastebuds. The all-white meat chicken is always soft and tender topped with an irresistible crunch from the fried vermicelli (or udon?). The green is always cut and prepared fresh. I've yet to try other dishes because each time I enter Zeni-Ya, I could never resist getting the salad. It's highly fulfilling on its own. It's not an appetizer. Great customer service too btw. The owner is such a sweet lady and is passed down to her family members that...
