Not my favorite location. Where do I start? After having more than one lame experience here I walked away with this...The owners have made a small empire for themselves with their 80's clubs; for that I am proud of what they have accomplished. With that said, I feel as if they have forgotten their "roots". The cover charge of $15 is ridiculous, the small line was being held up for no other reason but to "look" busy. Those "tactics" are so 90's and lame. Parking is ridiculous. It's not the size of the parking lot BUT the fact that a large majority of it is "coned" off for employees etc. I understand the acts and bands need such accomodations but the staff are the ones that should be parking at the Park and Ride up the street. Not the patrons. 50% of the time the bands and/or music are not even 80's? Seating in the joint is also held for those who want to "pay" to sit? My husband and I were approached by what felt like a used car salesman asking if we wanted to sit for a surcharge? Complimentary first come limited seating is not even an option even though they already have a separate "paid" VIP section. Moving on, I understand it takes a while before people get drunk and get the nerve to dance but please. The main demographic here is mostly Gen X and should not be acting like shy violets out of place. After trying to start up the dance floor multiple times I gave up, couldn't wake the DEAD. There are NO mirrors in the ladies room??? Now the good; the drinks are most always delicious. The food is typical bar food, not horrible, not great. The smoking patio is decent and comfortable standing space only. The dancefloor is nice size and the stage/dj booth are well placed. The decor is on point. My favorite of this franchise of venues is the original New Wave Bar in Bellflower on a Wednesday or Thursday night with Karaoke. Everything else about these clubs is a cross between what Gen X and Boomers will remember as THE HOP and some kind of "wannabe hipster heaven'" I can throw a better party in my living room! So...
Read moreThis place has a good vibe but totally not worth it. First the parking is small you have to get there early & I mean super early to get parking. Once you find a parking space you have to get in line to get in. Once you’re in & ready to pay the cover charge is cash only. They do have a ATM machine inside but their is also a huge line to use it. Don't forget to bring your ID otherwise you won't be able to get in. The security guard was nice & let me go get in from my car. He made sure I did not loose my place in line.
The way I took it, They let the VIPs go in first. Others wait in line. Once you get in, if you did not reserve a vip table you will be seated on the worst part of the club. I will call it the boring section. There are only a few small TVs and I mean small TVs, tables & chairs you would not be able to see the stage. There is this huge wall covering the stage. The club is shape like a J. I’m my opinion it’s the worst shape for a club. Once you get out to the dance floor it’s a really good vibe the music is nice the people are drinking having a good time.
The drinks are good reasonably priced. I recommend the big fish bowl. It’s comes with a flashing ice cube making it look really nice. It’s big enough to last you the whole night. I did not try the food so I can’t review the food. I also did not like that the waitress keeps your credit card to run a tap, I get it, but that made me a little uncomfortable. The waitress was super nice very attentive to us.
Would I recommend this place only if you reserved a VIP table otherwise no I don’t, save your money there are better...
Read moreThis place is a hidden gem! I went on a Thurs with 🚫 cover charge! The DJ somehow mixes in the music with the videos for an all-around sensory experience! But what was sad is that there were 5 total workers that night and only about 10 patrons (including me)! 🤷🏽♂️ I did my best with the black girl barkeep, Cindy, who looked like me. She hooked me up with a double-bourbon on the rocks which kicked my but so bad, I had to get a Coke and some kind of smothered fries dish which smelled burnt but did the job to soak up some of the alcohol! The restrooms were clean; the lights and dancefloor were fantastic and the place DID 🚫 have that weeks-old stench of some nasty dive bar! I had to give the DJ a nice tip for him to play JUMP by the Pointer Sisters (🚫 the Van Halen one)! And I pulled a Billy Idol, and danced by myself! There was plenty of the Cure, Depeche Mode, the Go-Gos, the Smiths and the Ramones, but Hey Mr. DJ, can it really be an 80s bar if not one single Micheal Jackson song is 🚫 spun in a 2-hour block!? 😲 C'mon dawg, he was the 80s . . . and to boot, you have hand-painted artwork of him on the wall. And I must say it looked 'MARVELOUS!' Remember that? Anyway, I will be back again on Thurs and Imma bring my own chick to dance with because this place is great. And who knows, maybe this post will bring in some more HOTTIES! 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏼💃🏽 I tried my best to do my part by dropping 70 bucks, so keep these Thurs alive! Because the GOOD music scorched 🌎 of today needs this venue,...
