First and foremost, the boutique style ice cream that you get from here is beyond worth the price (which is not expensive by any means), just goes to show the value of coming here for a tasty treat! Don’t let the quality of the ice cream take away from the absolute star-studded slew of Italian Ices you can get here. Not well known as a dessert here in the Midwest, the Italian ice here deserves a it’s on podium for how darn good it is. It is truly a must try if you’re an ice cream lover because it satisfies that craving a a special and unique way that traditional ice cream just can’t do.

Second, Gregg works diligently to provide new items for the community like his ice cream sandwiches (new item, limited runs). I know he has worked hard meticulously perfecting the cookie part of the sandwich which both types I have tried contain a satisfying, chewy, and perfectly soft cookie to withstand the absolutely thick portion of ice cream stuffed between both cookies. If you are in with the fam, grab one or two to take home (when they are available) because they will go beyond on satisfying that midnight craving for something sweet. Don’t worry, if he doesn’t have them, it’s because he makes them by hand himself, so they are extra special (like pretty much everything he offers).

Lastly, he is commonly rotating flavors to keep you coming back for more. He truly does use top of the line ingredients and he has a true passion for sweets. Whether it is 90 or 30 degrees, his sweet delicacies are sure to bring a smile to your soul. Check his Facebook page for photos and new flavors and don’t be shy to stop in and ask for a sample to figure out which flavor you...

Meh.

Cookie Monsta (kids size) - $4.75: Colored blue. Sweeter flavoring. The cookie pieces are higher quality (maybe homemade?). The price was hard to swallow, but it is a specialty ice cream. It tastes a lot like standard hard serve ice cream, but a touch sweeter and creamier. I am not an ice cream connoisseur and cannot speak articulately on this.

Service: Ready, knowledgeable and helpful.

Atmosphere: A lot like a smaller standard ice cream parlor. The chairs are older and quaint. It smells very sweet. I love stepping into ice cream parlors for that reason.

Conclusion: Honestly, I was underwhelmed with how little I got for almost $5. I suppose you have to know better what it is to appreciate it and I don’t know as much.

Owner is super friendly and taught us what Italian ice is when we arrived. He provided us with quite a few samples so we were able to try out a number of flavors. Just like the Italian ice, the ice cream is made on site. He was even pulling out a batch from the night before.

They have seasonal options. If you want to take something to-go, just give them a call ahead of time and they'll throw it into their super chilled freezer so it stays frozen longer in the car ride home.

They have an ever-changing menu, additional seasonal items like (ice cream?) pies, upcoming peppermint items, and soon they will hot cocoa balls for the season.

Everything tasted rich and delicious. The owner truly cares about their craft and I'll be sure to let others know.

We'll...

We love this ice cream spot. The salted oreo is our favorite and we drive an hour just for that flavor!!!! I think the rhubarb crumble needs more rhubarb tartness .. but that's a personal choice as I love the tart flavor itself without sugar and additives. The owner is the sweetest! We come from an hour away and he told us to call ahead and he will freeze our ice cream solid so it's easier to transport. We return again and again because the service is stellar and the ice cream is divine!

Great way to end Father’s Day at Barry’s Italian Ice! Tried Rhubarb Crumble today. Wow! NJ had Butterfinger Ice Cream and we tried a sample of the Key Lime Italian Ice. So good. I love that they put a little chocolate at bottom of waffle cone so your ice cream doesn’t drip. Love this place. There are a few nice size picnic table outside so you can enjoy the great outdoors or you can eat inside.Barry G’s Italian Ice
