FireRock Grille was an excellent experience, and though there were few hiccups, I would absolutely recommend this place.
My wife and I came on June 7th, 2025 for our 15th anniversary. I had called the night prior and explained our plans to a manager, who said that to honor our anniversary, we would be brought out a dessert of our choice that said "Happy anniversary" on it and that the dessert would be on the house. I think made a reservation for today.
When we arrived, we were kindly greeted and brought out to the patio where we were seated in a beautiful spot near the edge of the seating area that had been clearly set up for us. Our server, Emery, quickly greeted us and took our drink order. Upon asking for a wine recommendation, she gauged our tastes and offered a wine so good to us that we quickly decided that we'd be taking a bottle home.
We both ordered the 6 oz sirloin steak, hers medium well with yukon potatos and asparagus, mine medium with yukon potatoes and fries.
First, I want to focus on the service- Emery was the best server my wife and I have had in many years. She was attentive, friendly, and very knowledgeble. Seriously, she deserves a lot of praise. We felt well taken care of by her.
Second, the food- the wine, as stated earlier, was so well chosen for our tastes that we decided to get a bottle. It was a Moscato D'asti, and felt light with a delicious, fruity blend. Her food was perfectly done. My steak was unfortunately not done well, in that it was very well done, with no pink in it. I had considered asking it be remade, but I didn't want to spoil the day. For dessert, we chose a slice of triple chocolate cake that was both rich and delicious, but did not have the 'happy anniversary' message that had been promised us.
Sadly, that was a caveat that would also carry over to our bill. The dessert had been promised to be on the house, but unfortunately it was still on the bill. I realized that most likely the manager hadn't communicated this to the servers. We requested it be taken off, and Emery was more than happy to do so, but it still left us feeling disappointed.
Overall, I'd still happily recommend this place. The food was solid, the service was phenomenal, and the atmostphere...
Read moreWent to Fire Rock for the Thanksgiving buffet. It was busy but not terrible. And it went downhill from there. Took ten minutes for a waitress to acknowledge us. We ordered drinks and proceeded to the buffet room. Let’s just say there was no one tending shop. We arrived at 3:15. We left at 4:15 and they had just refilled the mashed potatoes. Almost an hour went by with the very staple of the dinner missing. The whole general appearance was so unappetizing. Food and sauces were slopped everywhere. The appetizer table was decimated and the only things left were the hot onion dip and squash soup. This bar was never replenished. The later your reservation the less choice. The salad bar was equally as decimated with dressing literally spilled everywhere. So unappealing. We placed drink orders that never came. We reminded the waitress twice. She brought them half an hour in and gave them to the table next to us. We told her they were ours. She said ours were coming. Ten minutes later the bartender brought us the drinks that belonged to the table next to us and they were complaining that they had the wrong drinks. Well duh. So we cancelled and had no drinks. All the good desserts were gone. Only pecan and apple pie left. No cheese cake. No cookies and cream pie. Even the cans with processed whipped cream were empty and never refilled. Generally no one was minding the shop. There should have been someone watching the line and refilling as things emptied. Basically I paid $40 for stuffing, turkey, gravy and mozzarella sticks. I would give the food a C at best and the service a D- and that’s generous. Very...
Read moreSpark notes - Service (hostess + manager)- TERRIBLE. Service (server) - Amazing!
It would receive zero stars if it wasn't for the server who did her job well and with a smile, and with no stress.
The hostess would not allow the rest of our table to be sat even though we agreed that they would not order and they would wait. But instead they were supposed to be kept inside in the lobby. Although their table was ready for them outside right next to us. We understood that the kitchen could not handle multiple orders at once and that we would have to stagger them. However, it was completely inappropriate to not allow the rest of our group to not sit at their table that was already prepared for them.. They were told they were going to have to wait another 30 minutes before sitting down? the way that it was handled was incredibly poor. Common sense. Went out the window. It was quite remarkable, half of our party ended up leaving and we were going to leave if it was not for our server.
To think that the manager never came over to apologize or to see if they could work anything out for any misunderstanding or even a poor encounter is also incredibly low.
Hostess was stressed that we had 11 ready to sit, and there was only 10 seats? It was so bizarre. The rest of the restaurant was empty when we arrived.
I would love hear from the owner.
Food was good. Our server again, was great. When we first arrived was terrible. Our hostess was terrible and it will be the talk of the weekend and how absolutely ridiculous we were greeted...
