Went to dinner with husband. Was seated in section that had only one waitress assigned, Victoria V. She had 3 booths of 4 ppl and a group of about 15 when we were put in her section. She was busting butt to keep up by herself. After we waited15 minutes, she was able to come and get our drink and food order. While waiting, I observed 3 other waitresses and the bartender taking orders for the center bar area. The other side of restuarant had 3 different waitresses assigned. (Total of 8 servers for restaurant)They were not as busy, and were standing around talking with one another dozens of times. Or they were all off the floor in the back at same time, leaving only bartender on floor. After being there 35 minutes, I asked Door Host to see manager. We had not seen one entirety of our being there. He came to table 5 minutes after our food arrived. He walked up to table and just bent over next to me, putting his face about a foot from mine. He didn't say a word. I leaned back and asked, "And you are?" He replied, "Dan." No other comment, greeting, or stating he was manager. I explained what I saw going on in restuarant with waitresses being unequally assigned to areas. That our waitress was busting butt to keep up with her large number of patrons. The other waitresses lack of enough to do, as they were standing around alot, sitting at the bar or gone off the floor. The bartender, male, flirting with 3 different waitresses. They could of easily helped out our waitress. I suggested all this to "Dan". When I was done, "Dan" just nodded and walked to the back, never to be seen again. Nothing changed on our side. I actually saw one waitress in bar area, sit at table with new patrons and take their order. The other servers side got even slower as ppl left and 4 more tables of ppl were seated in our section. Again, only one server for this section, doing an admirable job of trying to keep up. I also saw our waitress helping clean tables in other sections and helping other servers bring food out to their tables. When we got the check, I asked why no one helped her. She said she didn't know, she had asked the bartender and 2 other girls if they could, since they weren't as busy. No one did. The manager did nothing. I asked what happened to "Dan" as he never reappeared on floor. She said he was on the line cooking. I asked her why she helped the others, when they would not help her. She stated, "Because I'm not that kind of person." Well done! She got a 75% tip and our most gracious thanks for a job well done. VICTORIA V, you are an excellent waitress. By the way, the food was only okay and "Dan", you are a LOUSY manager. Poor leadership begets poor service. Thank goodness our waitress wasn't...
Read morefirst off, my date and i walked in and stood at the host stand for about 15 minutes waiting to be seated, seeing no employees in sight. as we were sat, we were told our waitress would be with us shortly. our waitress was mumbling and talked so fast we could hardly hear what she was saying. she was either new at Applebees, or just new at serving in general. our drinks came out promptly, unlike our food. we ordered the chicken wings appetizer, which came out in about 20 minutes . now, i myself am a server, so i would completely understand the extra time if the restaurant was busy...but we were 1 of 3 tables inside. my date and i both got the chicken caprese and i asked "instead of regular tomatoes, do you have sun-dried tomatoes?" she said (what i think was) that she would ask the kitchen. when she came back (15 minutes later) she said "we don't have those kind of onions"....i let it roll off my chest, i like regular tomatoes just the same. my date asked if he could sub rice instead of mashed potatoes, she said "we have white rice and yellow rice" he asked "do you have brown rice?" and she said "the yellow rice is really good! its got corn in it, its like dirty rice!" to which my health nut date replied "ill just have the white rice then.." . our food came, cold and rubbery. i had to use so much salt to give it some flavor i might as well had soaked it in beach water and it would have been somewhat flavorful. after we had eaten we sat at the table talking for about 30 minutes waiting for the waitress, who was no where in sight. when she did return, with full drinks (assuming we had finished our first round after the apps and 45 minutes to eat our entrees) I asked for a box and a lid for my ranch dressing, and i ordered dessert. another woman came out with a box and my dessert. no lid for the ranch. doesn't seem like a big deal, but as i mentioned, i myself am a server and i always make the joke with my tables "and heres a lid for your sauce, i know from experience, you don't wait it spilling all over your food in the car! haha". overall just a horrible experience. the restaurant was clean though....so, i guess they have that...
Read moreThis is the Applebee's on 13th Street and 10th Avenue in Gainesville Florida. When I came up and it looked empty. No cars in the lot adjacent to the restaurant. A lot in behind it but not many really close up. I look closer to make sure it was eating in house. And the sign did say so. I have to say the place was very clean when I came in. I was sat quickly the Host just pointed me the way to go and told me what Booth was mine. I was by myself so I'm kind of used to this Behavior. Don't say I like it I'm just used to it. After maybe ten or so minutes the waitress came over with the menus. I asked her what products did they have. Had Pepsi which I didn't mind. I asked her what she thought of the cooks skills and she was complimentary said she would make sure they knew what I wanted when I told her how I like my steak which is a kind of different style. But she had an idea what I wanted and I was fine with it. I ordered steamed broccoli and garlicky green beans. I tasted the soda . It was really sweet . I asked to speak with the manager and suggested that he raised his carbon mixture so he wasn't using as much syrup. No one ever offered me another drink. The order came up rather quickly which was a pleasant surprise. The steak was good, could have been a little rare but it was good. Broccoli was okay then I tried the green beans. First bite was undercooked second was the same but some people call it al dente. Third bite was ice cold. I got the waitresses attention and let her know it was cold and I said I'll try the mac and cheese with bacon instead. When I got it it was pasta hot but pasta with cheese sprinkled over it with bacon sprinkled over it. I'm sorry y'all but in my book that is not mac and cheese! Wasn't creamy wasn't dripping with cheese sauce of any kind. Was noodles with cheese on top and bacon. When I finally got their attention about the bill. her to remove the soda from the bill cuz I only took a couple sips. It was too sweet to drink for me. It wasn't good enough for me to recommend for a nice fun place to go anymore. It wasn't worth the...
